Sought out a Frank Pepe's based on a recommendation from Stan. While not the original location in New Haven, I was able to find one in Manchester that was on our way home from a business trip in Hartford. This shop is tucked away in a mall area but seems to be a destination. The pies are truly delicious. I... More

This is the 'real deal'. Old Time coal fired ovens with super long pizza peels and thin crust pies baked just right. I owned a couple of Pizzerias back in New York (Sullivan and Ulster Counties )and used Baker Pride ovens and made my own dough, sauce and used freshly ground Mozzarella cheese. All done on premises. So.... it's a... More

Pizza does not get any better than this, except for fans of Sally's and Modern in New Haven. Every time we go we are amazed on how good and consistent they are. Mozz, mushroom, and sausage is to die for.

I ate some wood that had been shaved off the pizza oven paddles. We found 5 inc slivers of wood. The fact that the wood can come off is concerning and that the owners were not ensuring no foreign objects in food. We only received a credit on the pizza. The managers should have given us the whole meal free!

We had little difficulty finding this restaurant off route 84, but locating a parking space on a Saturday at lunch time is a bit of a challenge. The restaurant was close to capacity, but we only had to wait about 5 minutes before being seated. The owners have done a nice job replicating the original location right down to the... More

Now that Pepe's is a Connecticut chain, we thought we would try one of the new restaurants and avoid the incredible lines that one must contend with when going to the original Pepe's. First impression is that they did a great job making the Manchester store look like New Haven. They used a similar old fashioned white ceramic tile for... More

This is the original Neapolitan pizza. Naples is where pizza was born and Frank Pepe helped bring the original to the US. You don't get more authentic Italian pizza than this.

I am not a pizza fan. My husband begged me to go to this restaurant because he used to own a pizza shop and said that it was excellent. We first went to the original one in New Haven. When I saw the people lined up outside, it gave me a clue to it's popularity! He ordred me a plain... More

Have eaten at the Wooster Street local, the Manchester one by the mall and recently at the Mohegan Sun location, food is consistantly prepared at all locations.

I like the pizza when you sit and eat but when you get takeout it kinda sucks. They don't keep it warm after they make it, it just sits on a shelf. Then it becomes rubbery and not as good. I ordered chicken on one of my pizzas and it didn't smell right, I have a feeling it was old.... More
