We had a wonderful meal! Charming decor and delicious inventive meal. We ate tapas and squid and couldn't fit in a dessert but they sounded fabulous! Can't wait to go back!
Nothing terrible happened. Out of state friends wanted to go here, and were expecting outstanding food, ambiance, and service. Everything was okay, we selected entrees (2 ordered ribs, 1 duck, & 1 paella, 3 of the 4 available choices) and perhaps we would have been more impressed with the tapas. We also had an appetizer (ceviche), red sangria, and creme... More
What I like about Devotay is it's something different from the normal restaurant in Iowa. They have a wide range of options of tapas to choose from. I had the scallops- they were very good but definitely was a "small plate." the wine was good and we got happy hour prices while we were there. It's a small place so... More
Visiting Iowa City for a conference, and disappointed that our previous favorite restaurant had closed some months earlier, a group of us chanced upon this purveyor of Spanish cuisine. Well, it may not be 'posh' or upscale, but of all the dining options we tried out during our stay in Iowa City, it was easily the best and most enjoyable.... More
The ambience is lovely, the craft cocktails are delicious, and the food is really good. These are small plates to be shared with friends, but there are also a few things on the menu (paella, mussels, even the small plate of scallops) which are/can be entrees. A meal for two comes to about $100 with drinks and tip, but I... More
Our tapas experience was one of good drink, nice conversation and delicious food. We brought a group of eleven on a Saturday night and our waiter handled us with ease. Once seated you notice the charm of the restaurant and the great views of the sidewalk traffic around. There are some tapas that are just perfect. We had three children... More
AND one can actually converse with one's table-mates! The serving staff was helpful, the tapa portions were just the right size, elegantly presented and delicious, and I thought the price was quite reasonable for an out-of-the-ordinary menu. A 20% gratuity is automatically added on for parties of 6 or more.
this is a restaurant to be seen (literally, from the sidewalk). You salivate over the candled ambiance. You eat the cumeau d'sand and Poisson hebert and always always charge it, so the price won't hit you until you get your monthly statement. ............ oh, did she? Well it's about time they recognized her importance to the department. I know, she's... More
When we arrived there we were seated very promptly. The wait staff was very prompt. The bacon on the bacon wrapped dates bacon was soggy and they were drowning in a huge amount of sauce; while the braised pork croquettes were super dry. The kale salad was fresh however severely under seasoned. The cheese plate was a mess; huge lumps... More
