Jimmy Johns was quicker and less expensive and closer to the hotel. The staff was respectful and the food was tasty

My boyfriend and I went to Poor Boy Llyods on a Saturday night for dinner where there were a few tables but the place was not packed. There was a sign that said “please wait to be seated” but the waitress told us to sit wherever we’d like so we sat down. Service was not good from the moment we... More

Elegant it is not, but Lloyd's is a great casual eatery with wonderful food and good service. Outside tables are available for outdoor dining on a pretty day. I had a great fried shrimp dinner with fries and potato salad; my husband had fried fish with fries and cole slaw. We left satisfied and happy. I would recommend Poor Boy... More

I picked up a to go order this weekend to bring lunch to my husband. He had the oyster poboy and french fries. I had the catfish poboy and onion rings. Both sandwiches were wonderful. The poboy bread they use is high quality. I loved the sauce they package for you to dip the onion rings in. The batter on... More

Don't let the counter service fool you. The food was good, the service was friendly, and the place felt like a local joint. I would go again when I am in Baton Rouge.

Food was first class and very reasonably priced but the proper "southern" staff really made the place. Loved it!

My husband and I decided to eat downtown tonight because we always eat at J Alexander's, and we thought venturing out of our normal restaurant comfort zone would be good for us. We went to a grill downtown and were both very disappointed with the food. Just as we were pulling out of the parking lot, swearing to ourselves "never... More

Tends to draw a big downtown lunch crowd so the line tends to back up. Casual and scramble for seating. Good range of lunch specials. I've had a range of sandwichs there over the years, to include blackened alligator, cajun style venison and a variety of Po' Boys. Good location if you're downtown for meetings/conferences (on next corner from Hilton... More

After visiting the state Capitol building, we walked around town and found this little gem where all the locals were headed, so we followed. Specials on the blackboard, order at the counter, they'll call your name and bring your meal. Had the fried pork chop, green beans with red beans and rice. Loved every morsel. The place is not fancy,... More
