It's pretty hard to mess up donuts and coffee. I loved the 24 hour service and the lack of lines that you find at the competing beignet place.

My family and I visited Morning Call last week for the first time. I was excited to introduce my nephew to beignets. I generally go to Cafe Du Monde when in the area but having read the reviews we decided to try both places on this trip. The location was good. The service and dining area were fine. Unfortunately the...

Get off your cell phone. The kitchen worker was moving like there was no tomorrow. The bathrooms had pee all over the toilets. They can not compare to Cafe` Du Monde. The music outside the door was entirely too loud.
My wife and I were in Metairie for business and she read about this coffee shop that supposedly served beignets that were rated as good as Cafe Du Monde. We I resisted saying I knew they couldn’t be that good.
On our second day in Metairie my wife insisted that we try Morning Call as it was only about a...

We stopped in for our second breakfast of the day and so glad we did. The beignets were fresh out the kitchen, still steaming. They arrive plain with poedered sugar shakers on the table, unlike Cafe du monde which are packaged in powdered sugar. It really lets you taste the homemade dough. They were light and fluffy on the inside...

I'm no expert on beignets, but ALL they have here are flavorless fried donuts. The rest of the menu is "subject to availability," so in other words...not available. That means no crawfish etouffee, no jambalaya, no red beans, no gumbo, no corn, no shrimp. And apparently, no communication either b/c the waitress took our order only to return 5 minutes...

Stopped in here for a beignet fix while passing through New Orleans. Had just read the April issue of Saveur magazine and saw it listed in their New Orleans food article. Conveniently located off Causeway on way across Lake Ponchartrain bridge. Easy to get to! Located in a strip mall on the north of 17th.
Plenty of seating, friendly wait...

The cafe au lait and beignets (fried French doughnuts) are thoroughly worth the calories. Each costs $1.82, (up from the $ .26 each it had always cost in my childhood). There's now a small sampling of real food, traditional New Orleans fare, that we didn't taste. As a traditionalist I was horrified, but the waitress assured me it wasn't made...

My family and I dropped in on a Sunday morning prior to heading out of town to try our first beignets. The place was not busy so we were able to easily and quickly tuck into some fried dough, chocolate milk and hot chocolate.
We enjoyed them and found the service attentive and welcoming. No frills, really, minimal menu and...

Fabulous any time of day. GREAT service & fair prices! We went about 11am. No crowds what so ever. The beignets are the best I've had. We also had the Jambalaya which was fantastic. This will be my go to place every time I am in the area. Worth a drive to Metairie even if you are staying the quarter. Old...
