Description: Academe at The Kennebunk Inn showcases the culinary creativity and execution of Chef-owners and Culinary Institute of America graduates, Brian and Shanna O'Hea. This year Academe's Lobster Pot Pie was featured on the Food Network show "Best Thing I Ever Ate," nominated by celebrity chef Cat Cora. Since acquiring the historic inn located in the heart of Kennebunk village in 2003, the O'Heas have dramatically altered the look, the feel and, most importantly, the tastes awaiting patrons of The Inn's restaurant. From first course options to entree and dessert offerings, Academe promises an uncommon yet accessible dining experience drawn from the seasonal bounty of the land and sea.

We went during Maine Restaurant Week and chose our meals off of the Restaurant Week menu on a Saturday night, assuming that these menu choices would be exceptional. The lobster pot pie was good but it certainly was not the best thing we have ever eaten. The entrees (arctic char and fried chicken) were also good. Two of us had... More

Stopped in on a snowy afternoon for a drink at the bar and so glad we did. Enjoyed speaking with Amanda the bartender who took great care of us and was very welcoming. Had fabulous buffalo wings...very large portion and the wings themselves were big and very meaty. The bar is small but was exactly what we were looking for.

Excellent service, great specialty drinks, tasty appetizers, tender steak and seafood, lovely presentation, experienced servers, charming location, great for a group or a more intimate meal.

I agree with the other reviewer who criticized portion size. The demi-salad is three bites of greens for $4.50! I had a turkey pot pie which was excellent, but a small portion at $18.00. My wife had the full salad (at $9.00) which was the size of a side salad, again very tasty, but insultingly small for the price. The cup of butternut... More

At this charming bed and breakfast, the chefs are a husband and wife team. They cooked up our favorite meal while visiting Maine. The ambiance was great, the staff courteous and attentive, and the fish and chicken ordered, delicious!

Let me start by saying hats off to the chef. You are preparring quality food with very inventive twists to it. The love, care and skill put into your dishes is very evident. I feel bad that it is not really recognised or appreciated in these reviews. I had the crab raviolli with shrimp and I think it's the best... More

The food and presentation were excellent, but the quantity of food compared to price was sorely difficient. Very scanty portions in relation to the prices charged. Even the bowl of candy in the entrance held miniscule pieces of wrapped hard candy! I feel one does not get his money's worth at this establishment.

We came by mistake. We were looking for 50 local but they were closed so we crossed the street and we went to this inn. Service was good and the salmon panini was excellent.

We were heading back to the airport, and wanted one last lobster meal so we we decided to stop there for the pot pie. Unfortunately, we were told the chef who makes it was not there that day, so we had to choose something else for the menu. They have a burger, assorted sanwiches (all large enough to be split),... A friend brought my 10 year old daughter and I for dinner and I wasn't impressed. The atmosphere was kind of dark and stuffy. The entrees were pricey so I ordered a Turkey Wrap and it was dry and odd tasting. The onion rings were great but for $11-14 dollars I would have gone somewhere else. My daughter ordered the... More
