Okay, you got to love a place that uses every square inch of its small space so effectively. We sat against the wall looking into the kitchen - added to the fun! Plus they had the magnetic poetry words on the wall in front to amuse us. And that we did. Food was great. The bread they use for their... More

We heard great things about Duckfat, and although it was actually closed for renovations for most of the time we were in Portland, we were able to make it there for lunch on our way out of town on our last day. We ordered a duck confit panini, a tuna melt panini, and of course the duckfat fries. All the... More

We had high hopes for this restaurant as it sounded like a great concept. We stopped by on our way to Bar Harbor. The atmosphere of the restaurant has a cool vibe. The meals are a bit pricey. We felt our sandwiches had potential, but lacked flavor. The fries were incredibly salty and the dipping sauce lacked real flavor besides... More

Let me start by sharing that their food is GREAT! Having been here one time before we knew that certain items, like the Poutine were top on the priority list to enjoy! I wouldn't turn people away from here, but I would suggest you order as you would like to enjoy the items. We requested the Poutine(large order) first, as... More

Who says you can't have Fries for dinner? Well that's what we were craving one Sunday evening so off to Duckfat we went! This is a great little intimate place on the fringe of Portland's Oldport district. We sat at the small bar and had a few glasses of wine while we waited for the most delicious fries in Oldport!... Although it can be a little tricky to find (it's almost as though the owners didn't want it to be discovered by the casual passerby), this little restaurant is worth the effort and price. It's still pretty close to the action along the waterfront, with a young urban vibe, but still welcoming for all foodies judging by the mixed clientele.... More

The first time we ate here was in Sept. of 2012. Tried it again in April of 2013, to be amazed again. It's basically a sandwich shop, but not a typical shop. Sandwiches are extroranry, fries are to die for. Great beers on tap, don't miss out!

The location is a little bit aways from the busy downtown area, a little closer to the water. There isn't even a prominent sign for the restaurant! You wouldn't know it was there unless you were looking for it (and of course the casual diners hanging outside). The food is AMAZING. Very simply made food but all of it was... More

Who doesn't want to eat at a restaurant that fries their food in duck fat?! The pure idea of this is genius. I had the belgian fries with truffle ketchup and the poutine. Pure deliciousness. To top it off, I had the original duckfat vanilla milkshake. Although pricey, definitely worth the indulgence. The atmosphere was very laid back and friendly.... More

Culinary delight. Duckfat has its own character. We dined on good sandwiches and fabulous french fries with truffle ketchup. We also liked their daily selection of craft beers brewed in Maine. In the space of three days, we ate lunch there twice.
