Whenever we go to New England our first meal must include lobster and fried clams. After a long drive to Southwest Harbor we pulled up in front of the Quietside Cafe. The atmosphere is very welcoming and homey. We had our lobster roll and fried clams then ordered the apple pie. Yummy! We went back two more times during our... More

We've been coming to this place for years now and it is by far the best clam chowder and lobster rolls we have ever had! This trip we also tried the lobster stew which was equally as amazing. And you cannot leave without trying Frances' famous coconut macaroons!

We stopped here for a lunch and my husband ordered the clam chowder. He says it was the creamiest, most buttery clam chowder he has ever had. Almost like the difference between eating ice cream and frozen custard, if you know what I mean. Delicious!

My family has been going to this little gem for the past 17 years. It is a great place for lunch and an ice cream stop. We like to sit in the window and watch the goings on in Southwest Harbor. The daily lunch special is always a good choice. The food is very good and the pie is amazing.... More

We ate here twice during our week on MDI in July. Burgers were good. Nice selection of sandwiches. Great iced tea. Did not try the sweets, but will next time. It's a local favorite in the area. I recommend.

Great food for a great price. Delicious lobster roll. Generous portion. Key lime pie was excellent with the chocolate crust. Stop by to visit with Frances and her Ralph if your in the area.

If you are looking for something sweet stop here! Frances bakes everyday, and her pies are HUGE! The icecream is also wonderful, Maines local Giffords icecream.

Went for lunch to Beal's Lobster Pier, but it was closed for the season. Looked at Trip Adviser's suggestions and pick this place. It is very low key, lay back, old fashion mom's and pop's cafe with only 6 tables, but food is superb. Very fresh, simple dishes from local ingredients. Seafood was just fantastic! Friendly service and great value... More

On the recommendation of our B&B host, we went to the Quiet Side Cafe for a late-evening blueberry pie with vanilla ice cream. The pie was amazing--homemade, well over an inch thick, packed with Maine wild-type (i.e., small and tasty) blueberries, and fine crust. Nice folks working at the cafe as well.

We stopped on our walk around Southwest Harbor and just "needed" some ice cream. We got the blueberry and it was excellent!! It was full of lots of big sweet berries and just piled on the cup. We got a glimpse of the pies and ended up getting a piece of apple and one of blueberry to take back to... More
