First off, we did not have the Clam Chowder! I know it's famous for that but we don't like Clam Chowder. We went because seafood is it's specialty. I wanted a lobster while in Cape Cod and had tried one a few days earlier, at another, supposedly "great" restaurant, not specializing in seafood, but locally highly recommended and been highly... I went with a friend and our daughters because it was convenient to something else we had to do in the area. I agree with those who said the waitstaff and hostesses were less than friendly. Come on, folks, we're dropping cash here, how about a smile? Even though it was pre-season and we got there early, there was a... More

We tried this spot because it supposedly has been recognized for its clam chowder. But I was disappointed. It is very thick (think wallpaper paste) and while the clams were tender the potatoes were overcooked and mushy in texture. This is a lively or noisy place depending on your viewpoint and proximity to the bar.

Boy what a disappointment. After so many other reviews that raved about the chowder we thought we would give Captain Parkers a shot. The chowder was ok nothing special, very very thick and not many clams in our cups. Then I had a lobster salad plate which wasn't bad but I thought $18 was high for about a cup worth... More

Thje New England Clam Chowder is without a doubt the best I have had on the Cape. I found myself going back a few times for the chowder. I did have scallops for lunch one day. Three blackened and three sauted and they were scrumptious! The female staff could be friendlier and more welcoming for a solo traveler. This restaurant... More

I took my family for a ride on the cape, and stopped for lunch. Nice atmosphere and lots of interesting stuff on the walls. We ordered a sandwich (Okay) Fish & Chips (Very small portion 2 small pieces if fish, for big money!) and chicken fingers (Another small portion and very dry chicken) one soda and 2 glasses of water.... Stopped in for dinner. Some of the local's suggested Captain Parker's & after dinner I knew why. The clam chowder is wonderful. We had a sampler appetizer & wow everything was great! To my surprise the cocktails were half the price of other restuarant's & 16 oz !! For dinner I had a 1&1/2 lb lobster & it came pre-cracked... More

Riding the reputation of their excellent clam chowder, I tried Captain Parker's Pub once. Never again. The service is unfriendly with a touch of arrogance. For a cape fish house it is over priced, and their shortcuts are obvious, french fries, rolls, that kind of thing. And the bottom line a piece of fish in the seafood platter was past... More

The rest of the menu is just average w/ good portions & a bit pricey, but definitely come for the clam chowder --- yummy thick, not too salty, and the clams (of which there are plenty in the chowder) are perfectly cooked and tender. I had it served in a bread bowl & ate the whole thing -- bowl &... More

Wonderful clam chowder -- thick, well-seasoned, not too salty, and the clams (plenty in there) are perfectly cooked/tender/ NOT rubbery! Have it in a cup, bowl, or bread bowl. Take a quart to go for later. The rest of the menu is just ok & a bit pricey (portions are a good size though), but definitely come for the chowder.... More
