Authentic, the gumbo alone is worth the trip, but have as much as you can hold!

Home made food made with the New Orleans flair! Hours vary. Their special events are great!

Yes this place is a small hole-in-the-wall but the gumbo was the best I have ever had outside of New Orleans. Desi and Wes could not have been more welcoming. East Lansing needs a place like this given the typical college eateries.

Amongst the drab that is food in East Lansing Gumbo and Jazz is a beacon of hope. The food is tremendous whether you appreciate Louisianan cooking or not. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming, every time you enter you are greeted with a smile while jazz music wafts through the air. It's almost as if you were eating at home... More

I understand that this is a very small place (though I wasn't expecting it to be) but it seems to me that you might be able to afford yourself some actual flatware so that I don't have to eat out of a Styrofoam bowl. The portions were EXTREMELY small and they charged 11 dollars PER PERSON for a small portion... More

This restaurant showed up as #1 among 121 restaurants in East Lansing on this site and so I went there to try out their menu with great expectations. However, I was hugely disappointed. The inside of the restaurant smelled of fat and oil and so we decided to sit outside in the patio, but the patio tables/chairs and the area... More

I've had the opportunity to enjoy Louisiana food, having lived there for 12 years. Now is my chance to do so here! The food and excellent, and the service is warm. We had a wonderful experience and will return, with friends. I love the place and the people! Ken Mask

Great food, if you like slightly spicy, rich flavours. A lot of food. Friendly service. Cosy setting.

Highly Recommend going here as soon as possible. Food is fantastic everything homemade. Friendliest service around. Very cozy, great place to take a date. I will come again and again and again. Go for family style, that way you get everything. If you don't do that, get the smothered chicken. If you go Saturday, they make smothered pork chops...mmmmmmm goooood!
