50's diner feel. It's nice for a quick stop while downtown. The only problem is the seating is very limited. Booths only sit 2 people, then there is some small barstools going around the counter, that's it. So don't bring a big group.

Knapp's is one of the greatest places in Rochester. You walk in to a 50's diner, with bar stool counter seating, black and white tile floor. the malts and milkshakes are EXCELLENT! Fried pickles are great! Burgers, soup, wonderful, Onion Rings bigger than your head! Check this place out!!! You won't be disappointed!!!
I like the fact that we have traditional American places like this to keep the American tradition of a time that will never come back. However, the menu needs a inside make over, to work on the ingredients and the flavor. Execution of the burgers and dogs also need some re-engineering. In one word sloppy.

I loved the food there! It was very good! The smoothies were also excellent! I like the strawberry the best, but I'm a strawberry person! The only down side is that there is not much space inside and when it is packed, there is not much room to sit! Overall, this is a good place to eat- if it's not...

My husband and I stopped by Red Knapps for a burger and shake - shake was fine - but the burger was just so tasteless - the bun was awful and not toasted- waste of money - won't be back.
Best chocolate malts in the area - better than Ray's! Can take or leave the rest of the menu. Though many seem to enjoy the fare. As for me, the malt is king!
I've only been there once -- it was crowded so apparently lots of people like the place. The burger was really good. My dining buddy ordered the fried pickles and loved them. I'd go again but wouldn't make a special trip into Rochester to do it.
Ok, this place is old school, it is great if you just have a hankering to sit at the counter and have an old fashioned burger and a shake...just do it...
This is one of my kid's favorite places to go. They love the milkshakes. The burgers are ok but not great. The onion rings are good but too big. The fries are just ok. It is a fun place to go with kids.
What they serve is very good, but the menu is limited. If you go in with a few people, some will leave disatisfied.
