Description: Salut Bar Américain is the brasserie down the block. Warm and welcoming, with an urbane wit and urban sensibility, it’s an afternoon hangout and an evening refuge. It’s your neighbor with a French accent. The setting evokes a classic Parisian bistro/restaurant. The service is spirited, confident and capably executed. And the cooking captures the freshness and hearty flavor of French cuisine. It’s the vibe inside that sets Salut apart from bowing maitre ‘d’s and sniffing sommeliers. From the welcoming wine list, to the playful décor, to the genial buzz in the dining room, Salut celebrates the French restaurant’s essential qualities while dispensing with the exclusionary ones. It demystifies French food by making it accessible and rewarding while poking fun at the stereotypes that surround it. Salut gives French dining a shot in the arm – while giving the French a gentle kick in the derriere. In this sense, Salut is a dual citizen: Authentically French – but proudly American.

I visited this place recently while I was in Minneapolis on business. I wanted to get away from the whole convention center/downtown mall scene. Edina is a cute little suburb with an urban vibe. When I arrived, there was an art fair going on, and lots of activity. Salut is relatively large but still has a bistro feel to it.... More

My husband and I stopped in for a nice lunch and we were really pleased. The menu is extensive and varied as well as the drinks menu that includes non-alcolohic drinks. We ordered a brie appetizer that was lovely, as well as the cherry drink with whole cherries. I had a Grilled Cheese like no other. It had melted swiss... More

Great breakfast and brunch, the coffee cups for the specialty coffee drinks are huge...you could almost swim in them. They are filled with the most delicious coffee drinks. The food is wonderful, a delightful brunch/ breakfast.

We dropped in on Saturday night on a double date night as the girls wanted their large hot chocolates after we ate at a much nicer place at the Galleria, but wanted to change venue. They really enjoyed them the hot chocolate. I have been there before and always feel that I spent a little too much money for the... More

Couldn't get into our first choice last night so we dropped in to Salut. Nice ambiance. It's pretty large but comfortable. The drinks in the bar were great. I asked the bartender to make a drink I had had in the islands a couple of months ago, and he figured it out. Nice job. The wait staff don't rush you... More

Cool little restaurant in a cool little town. Funky French vibe and the food had a definite French/American feel. French bread tasted authentic and was very good (always important). Started with a greek salad which was really good then I had the "Steak Frites" which gave me a delicious pan-fried steak with a mountain of fresh fries (yum). The interior... More

If you are into French/American cuisine, this is the joint for you! They have a great selection of duck, rabbit, foie gras, etc, etc but you can still get a wonderful steak, fish or hamburger. Our friends went nuts for their foie gras mousse (not my thing but they said it was some of the best they ever had!). They... More

Average food with above average prices. Better local places to try for sure. Not terrible, but not great. Two positives: Great outdoor seating and they do have a great loyalty program for the Parasole chain of restaurants.

We have had very nice dishes and some misses at Salut. Our misses are due to the feeling that the restaurant is so busy it no longer takes special care with dishes or has inconsistent cooks. One can feel as though staff feel rushed and compelled to push diners through quickly. I will try it again when it is a... More
