We were a bit mixed on this place--I liked it more than my husband did...the salad was excellent, the entrees were 3 hits out of four, but the side dishes were lacking originality and something special. The place is lovely, but a bit too airy (we were all freezing in there). The concept is good, though, but honestly, there are... More

Our first visit in a couple of years. We did this last minute on a Friday night. We sat at the uncrowded bar. Our servers were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We shared two appetizers and split an entree. We were both so impresses with the food. Overall, this was a great experience and we will return soon.

The Heartland Restaurant is located exactly where it should be in downtown St. Paul, next to the Farmers' Market. Locally grown fruits, meats, and vegetables provide the ingredients for a menu that changes daily. I honestly don't know how the chef is able to provide a new and different blend of dishes daily, but our party of three was delighted... More

I appreciated the friendly greeting I received when I entered Heartland for a solo dinner last Sunday. I enjoyed the cocktail menu (some classics alongside some that were new to me); I couldn't pass up the Aviation - made perfectly! I throughly enjoyed the ambience and the efficient, friendly, attentive service. Their focus on local ingredients is very admirable. I... More

Enjoyed for a casual business dinner while in St. Paul recentlyon a Tuesday evening. Menu includes both ala carte dinner items as well as some "flat rate", three course specials. Limited but acceptable wine list. All of us enjoyed one of the flat rate specials. Food was excellent but the portions were generally small. Service was above average and the... More

My wife and I had dinner last weekend at Heartland. The service was great and the food was very good. I had venison wontons for an appertizer and a strip steak for my main course, done to perfection. My wife had the 3 course tasting menu and every thing she had was also very good. I would prefer more choices... More

First, the good things. The building is really cool so go exploring. The staff was extremely friendly and pretty attentive. Beer and wine selection - very good. But that's about it. The food...eh, ok but not impressive. The speed of service...beyond slow, but i blame this on the kitchen not the staff. The value...didn't get my moneis worth. I love... More

We had heard wonderful things, and the on line menu looked intriguing, but we were very disappointed. Very busy at 7:30 PM on Saturday, they seemed overwhelmed and the service was poor - starting at the bar, where we waited 10 minutes for service and then gave up, and then in the restaurant. No one romanced the concept of the... More

The place is already amazing by its look; it's cool because of its warehouse architecture and very comfortable on the inside. The light is just perfect to relax and have a good time with friends or a lover. Besides, the food was superb! I had a pork chop that was just the right taste, very juicy and in an excellent... More

I was there last friday for dinner. From the great service and careful food preparation, to the amazing decor, we were certainly pleased. We had the pork chop and honestly, I can say It could not have been more delicious. The emphasis on local produce, always strikes a chord with my family. I of course read some of the other... More
