My mother and decided to stop in Pietown on the way to Pinetop, AZ. I said to her " We can't drive through Pietown and not stop for pie!" I've never been more glad, because it was the best impromptu pit-stop I could have imagined. The exterior is eye-catching kitschy with pink flamingos included. The inside is welcoming and the... From Santa Fe on a weekend road trip with my sister, my son and his friend. We have been to the Pie-O-Neer Cafe before and this time was just as good. In addition, one of the cafe folks by the name of Michael helped my son and his friend with their French homework! We had to take six pies back... More

My wife and I just got back from a little wandering around north central NM trip. We saw some really great scenery and had a really great time. Each day we would pick our favorite part of the day. The pies at Pie-O-Neer ranked at the top for our day number 8! We got there right before closing on a... More

Many thanks for the gracious review. Our pie staff work hard to ensure each and every pie is worth the journey. We are just real people, baking real pies, with real food and real love. We're glad you could taste it! More

We moved to NM from WV in August of 2011. We have wanted to make the drive to Pie Town for months and finally made the trip....Very Very Small town...but LOVED IT. We stopped by the Pie-O-Neer and :( they were closed....so we decided to take a couple pics and head back to Grants....Kathy, the owner, stepped out the door... More

It's always fun to surprise someone w/ "after-hours" pie, if we have it. We know how far folks travel to get here and how disappointing to find doors shuttered; that was our dismal experience 17 years ago! Thanks for the kind words and so glad you enjoyed the pie. Call if you're going to be late next time! More

We have driven past this restaurant many times on our way from ABQ to the White Mountains of Arizona but we have never stopped as we have always seemed to be in a hurry to either get to the airport or get to our destination BUT I can tell you now, never again! This trip we had some extra time... More

The minute you walk in the door of this charming dark wood and turquoise painted building, you are greeted not only by the fantastic aroma of pie, but by the friendliest people. The decor is welcoming and warm - tables surrounding a nice warm fire. Amazing artwork and photos cover the walls. A small art gallery off the main dining... More

Went to see the VLA, and one of our group just had to check out a town named after their favorite desserts. What a good choice on their part. It was wonderful to find a place that not only had the best pie I have ever eaten (sorry, Mom), but a place that I will remember for just being unique.... More

Pie-O-Neer is right out of “Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance”. The pies are wonderful (also try the green chili stew and the turkey, avocado and Swiss grilled Panini on sourdough.) Located a few miles off the Continental Divide, at nearly 8000 feet above sea level and voted “Best in the West” by Cowboys and Indians magazine, Pie-O-Neer is... More

Yeah, we like being "too colorful for words!" And "Zen......" works too. Thanks for the positive feedback... it's the stuff that stays with us long after the money has been spent! More

Don't blink your eyes while driving through Pie Town, NM, or you will miss the Pie-O-Neer Cafe -- and if you like pie, you certainly don't want to miss this cafe! It is a rustic and homey little cafe with a small adjoining gallery, all heated by an old fashioned wood stove. We were there for a writers' workshop, and... More

What a nice review! We are grateful for the opportunity to do what we do, and it feels really good when people let us know how we're doing...especially from a "baker's son". Signed, a "baker's daughter". More

On a long stretch of US 60, this is THE place to pull over for refreshments. Enthusiastic Kathy, the owner, will be glad to give you a 'private tour' of fragrant racks of her pies of the day and ham it up for pictures. Kids of all ages will love the old country store atmosphere and the display of obviously... More
