Very small restaurant where you immediately feel at home. Service was excellent and the red chile was just this side of heaven!
If it wasn't for Trip advisor, we wouldn't have eaten here. It's a total hole in the wall place but with delicious authentic Mexican food. It was a beautiful day so we sat outside on their small patio. Started with chips, salsa, and guacamole. Guacamole was freshly made and fantastic. Ordered chicken enchiladas and the chimichanga, both were yummy! It... More
Went here in November 2013 before starting a hike to wheeler peak. Wanted something hearty and delicious and that's what we got! My wife and I ordered from the specials: a steak burrito for me, chicken fajita for her and chips and guacamole to start. All were delicious!! Great authentic guacamole and salsa, chicken comes juicy, hot and sizzling in... More
Non pretensious- all about the flavors and food. Eat there for lunch- 4 specials offerred above what was on menu. Could not have been better. Highest recommendation.
Don't let the outside appearance keep you from one of the best New Mexican restaurants in Taos or maybe the state. I never tasted salsa like theirs, smoky, spicy, you can feel the freshness in every bite. Tried several dishes, each as good as the others. Save room for dessert, excellent as well. Owners take pride in their food and... More
The reviews of La Cueva are right on - hidden gem with little curb appeal and a whole lotta flavor! Our server was wonderful - the food was delicious!!! My husband had the combo plate and the chilie relleno was so good. I had the chicken mole fajitas and I cannot stop talking about the mole sauce. Salsa and guac... More
Decided to try this small place based on previous reviews. I'm glad we did. Great food in a small restaurant (5-6 tables in front, but it seems others available in a larger room behind the restaurant. Excellent food and reasonable prices in an old adobe building. Nice atmosphere adn friendly waiter. Enjoyed the day's special. Would go again.
It's just a hole in the wall. We'd never have gone in but for Tripadvisor reviews. But we're glad we did. Good burritos but the best dish may be the combo platter. How do they make any money serving such generous portions of very good food at those low prices? Be prepared for a very casual experience. The only fault... More
How can such a tiny place produce such big flavors? We made the two-hour drive to Taos to celebrate our anniversary and decided this was the place for lunch. Did we ever get that one right. It was a sunny day and the patio was enticing, but we opted for one of five tables inside the cheerful, adobe building. We... More
We wanted to have trout for dinner. We had learned from our visit to the local Indian Reservation that it was a stable to their diet. coming from the local mountain streams. All the comments are correct. The trout was served with southwest flavor.Very good. We had mango,, ice cream , etc. for dessert. Very unique. Friendly staff. Told us... More
