Description: Artisans is an intimate, warm and cozy fire-lit restaurant that extends out to the Lodge’s wide covered porches in fine weather. The high windows and grand porches seem to seat the diner almost upon the lake. Chef Nathan Rich and his dedicated team offer a full menu based on farm to table cuisine. The cuisine is seasonally inspired and New American in tradition, but voyages wonderfully and mysteriously into the world beyond. The Lodge has an exceptional wine collection that ranges from the modest to the illustrious and a magnificent and romantic dine-in wine cellar for special occasions. Artisans is open to the public, and seating is limited, so reservations are highly recommended. Dining room service begins each evening at 6pm. Children over the age of twelve are welcome at the Lake Placid Lodge. Our chef will be happy to accommodate any special dietary needs or special requests they may have.

We had a wonderful dining experience at Artisans on the evening of May 19, 2013. On arriving, staff pleasantly escorted us to two places for our consideration: the internal and the patio. What a view the patio offered of Lake Placid. It was truly amazing (breathtaking) and well worth the trip to this isolated restaurant. We selected the patio. Staff... More

The food at this restaurant is amazing. The sommelier, Brian, is very helpful and the service was efficient and very pleasant. You feel like they will do anything you ask and it won't be a problem. Pricey, but well worth it for amazing food and service.

We went here after a graduation for a family lunch. The view was great, the service fantastic, and the food was interesting and well flavored. It is a nice way to spend the afternoon and worth the visit.

First class, especially creative menu. Staff is really attentive and friendly. Outside seating is recommended for the view and ambiance. Not cheap but a good value.

Hold onto your wallets - it's not the food that's expensive, it's whether or not you can leave the place without buying one of the many pieces of art that are for sale and displayed thru-out the restaurant. The food has always been very good there and the service has been fine. I like to return when we're in town... More

We were staying at a nearby Lodge where the food was dreadful. We ventured out in a snowstorm to enjoy an absolutely amazing five star meal from start to finish. Chef Nathan Rich is incredibly talented as is the entire staff. The wine selection was outstanding and the service was a clinic in how fine dining should take place. Genuinely... More

I’m not a vegetarian, but we asked to see the vegetarian menu as well as the regular menu. The vegetarian menu was just about as big as the regular menu. I ended up ordering off the vegetarian menu. I started with the beet salad. I expected more beets; it was mostly a variety of greens with a lightly sweet dressing.... More

We were expecting an expensive meal, but the quality and flavor of the food left much to be desired. We had an 8:45 reservation and were seated at 9:25. Even though we were ravenous, the appetizers, main courses, and desserts were unsavory and forgettable. We will not return.

Lorie, primary bartender, is a mainstay and a huge asset to the Lodge. Generally, food is mediocre and very limited at Artisan Restaurant, although better at Pub. Portions can be very small. For example, a side of vegetables is petite which seems very cheap. Food is overpriced. Lodge is doing poorly, and this is obvious to guests since while rooms... More

Dear Dancingbearf-2, We thank you for submitting your review to Trip Advisor. We are sorry you feel that our offerings were mediocre, and our menus limited. That of course is not our goal. There are many fine restaurants in the Lake Placid area for guests to choose from including the one who’s name shares the your reviewer pseudonym. Guests rely... More
