Although she is the manager, Eden was our server. She knows her menu, the wines and makes sure everything is just so. She suggested a wine pairing with dinner and brought me 2 to taste. I didn't care for either and without batting an eyelash, said I know what you will like and brought me a great selection! She is... More

Likes: Atmosphere, view of Mirror Lake, wait staff, excellent "tuna three-ways" Dislikes: WAY,WAY over the top garlic with the prosciutto-wrapped scallops - scallops are delicate and delicious but the garlic was like a punch in the mouth - so strong that even after scraping it off - along with most of the mashed red potato base - the flavor was... Three girls in our party, dropped in for lunch on a quiet day. Service was very hospitable but slightly slow. The food was very tasty and well presented. We were given a corner table in the window which was excellent, we would definitely go back there next time we visit Lake Placid.

So like many others that visit Lake Placid on a regular basis, The Brown Dog for dinner is something that we look forward to. This weekend was our first visit to the new location following their move just a little bit down the street early in the new year. First, the location. Not bad--- bigger. It is in now what... More

I had dinner here with my mother and sister for a girls weekend. Dinner, wine and service were excellent. I would highly recommend the free range chicken.

We go to The Brown Dog every time we are in Lake Placid, it never disappoints. We were surprised to find they had moved south a couple hundred yards on Main St. It was still a great atmosphere with even better food & wine! Our waiter was knowledgeable about the menu & wine list. Menu is has something for everyone... More

Hadn't been in Lake Placid for a year, and was utterly disappointed when I saw that the Brown Dog Cafe was closed, as we were headed there for a late lunch. Then approx 5-6 stores down, we stumbled upon the NEW location of the Brown Dog. What a relief! Immediately stepped inside, and was pleasantly surprised to see the size... More

That's all you really need to know. If they can make such outstanding onion soup, and if everything that passed by our table tasted as good as it looked....you will never go wrong here. Oh, and the wine was great, and the view even better.

My wife and I ate here twice during a recent visit to Lake Placid. The restaurant is divided into a bar section with booths in the front, and a finer dining section with beautiful lake views in the back. We ate in the finer dining section first. I had the pancetta wrapped scallops which were very good. My wife had... More
