Description: South Edison is one of Montauk's top tables. Offering classic Montauk beach fare with a fresh and creative twist, South Edison is "the model of a summery eatery in a beachy town," says Peter Gianotti of Newsday. Chef Todd Mitgang, of Manhattan's three-star Cascabel Taqueria and formerly of Crave Ceviche Bar, offers a seafood centric menu with inventive flavors. A mere two blocks from the ocean, South Edison offers a menu changing almost daily to highlight the fresh local seafood, most of it sourced from the fishing docks only a mile away. Everything at South Edison from the colors and the furniture to the decor and lighting says Hamptons beach house. Look for creative cocktails such as dirty sandbox, patio pounder and the Montauk mojito at the bar as well as local brews from Six Point Brewery at the bar or in Growlers to go. Whether it's an apres beach cocktail and a snack or a candlelit dinner for two, South Edison is a perfect summer spot.

Went with a large group of people. We had a very good dinner. Would definitely go back if in the area. Had a lobster dish that was really good.

Every year this place gets stranger and stranger with their menu. Usually there will be something recognizable in the dish, but it's getting hard every year to determine what that is. Had the prawns which were overcooked in a bed of weeds (maybe frisée) and bamboo rice something. The dessert of their special salted caramel ice cream bar was different, but... More

Food is creative and well presented (see picture). Martini's with your choice of pickled vegetable(s) seems over the top, but actually works. What could be wrong? Maybe it was the feeling we had that they were doing us a favor by letting us dine here. Or it could be that the space itself is cold - hard surfaces and noisy... More

Went with some friends over Columbus Day weekend - the food was nventive and great - not huge portions but when food is great i dont think you need to be overwhelmed with quantity. Drinks were good - service was fine - will definitely be going back

Visited Columbus Day weekend 2012. Arrived a bit early for the reservation and were seated quickly. Ordered a half-dozen little necks -- they were fresh but quite small. We then waited nearly an hour for our meal, most of that period without any acknowledgement from our server who seemed indifferent for most of the night. Meal came with an explanation... More

We ate here because of the ratings, and they were correct. The menu had a good choice of items and as you would expect a good number of seafood items. The food was very fresh and well prepared. When getting clams or oysters it is important to eat at a place where they know what they are doing. They know... More

Place is so lovely and obviously a great effort has been put into it. Didn't get past the first thing we ordered, which was a kale, eggplant and chickpea dish. Way too oily. Had to send back, and unfortunately oil that had been used way too many times. Maybe their specialty would be the raw bar stuff, but never got... More

We came here on a Friday night and had the best meal at the bar. We opted to dine at the bar since its more social. The restaurant had a good crowd/buzz going. Our bartenders were super friendly and made great recommendations. We started with some local oysters which were great and we split a tuna entree that was equally... More

The food at this place is really fresh and delicious! Their food is great - locally grown - the selections are plenty and the atmosphere is wonderful. We got a bit lucky because we went for an early dinner on Saturday without reservations. Based on how busy it got within 30 minutes of being there - there is no doubt... More

Food was EXCELLENT - blue claw crab cake served w. egg & prosciutto was out of this world. Sea scallops done perfectly, as was striped bass. Very high noise level kept it from being perfect. 7
