Great atmosphere in wooded area overlooking a brook, very well prepared and imaginative menus, very good bar food and professional service.

I have been here several times and always had a very good meal. I recommend the Fillet Mignon or the Lobster dishes or the fish as well. Friendly staff nice also to sit by the stream and eat a nice lunch or diner. I went with my mom on mothers day it was great had the black angus steak sandwich.... More

I had some of the best salmon of my life here. We ordered tons of starters - probably not needed - but the winner in my book was the soft shell crab app. DELICIOUS! I ordered for my main the salmon in coconut curry and it was light, delicious and perfectly cooked. Also, even more delicious were the leftovers the... More

Reservations are recommended for this popular restaurant located next to a stream in Woodstock. Our appetizers, entrees, and desserts were attractive and delicious. Service was a bit slow, but the staff were friendly and attentive. In particular, our hostess made us feel comfortable and tried hard to accommodate our requests.

Great food , beautiful atmosphere, friendly staff. Food is always consistent . Bearsville theatre is there. A great place to have a per-show meal or a post- show late night snack or a great drink at the wonderful bar!

We dined at The Bear Cafe on our trip through Woodstock. The restaurant and the grounds it is on is lovely! It was a last minute decision and were able to have dinner without a reservation at exactly 5 when they re-opened. We definitely beat the dinner rush! The parking lot and restraunt became quite crowded shortly after we got... More

The ambiance at the Bear Cafe is great. So cozy and welcoming. But the food is only so so. We went here a couple of weekends ago upon high recommendation of friends. We were there later in the evening 9:50.. And there was still quite a wait. Being seated almost 30 min later, the service to order was quick. But... More

We had dinner at the Bear Cafe last night. We hadn't eaten there before, but we had tickets to a concert at the Bearsville Theater next door and thought we'd give it a try. Oftentimes, a restaurant that is on the same grounds as another venue is mediocre at best because they have a captive audience. This is definitely not... More

Last Saturday I went to dinner at the Bear Cafe expecting a lovely experience. The restaurant was not full. We had a reservation for 7:30 and were sat promptly, given menus and then ignored for about 30 minutes. During this time, we observe the bread station, as it was next to our table. Each and every server neglected to wear... More

Dinner was superb at the Bear Cafe. I ordered the filet, which was perfectly prepared. The menu selections had a wonderful choice of local and organic cuisine. We had a lovely table on a cold winter night next to the brook. You will need a reservation, as both the restaurant and the bar area were very crowded. Now I know... More
