While visiting my son in Chapel Hill, we decided to try Saffron (now named Raaga); my son had heard good things about it. We called about 6:00 p.m. on a Saturday and had no problem making a dinner reservation for later the same night. From the moment we walked in, we could not have had a better experience. The food... Had my birthday dinner here 3/24/13. Saffron has taken a new name - Raaga. I'm not why the name change. It was our first visit to this restaurant and we are not aficionados of Indian food but wanted a new taste experience. The waitress was very good and managed the kitchen. She was very knowledgeable despite not being Indian herself.... More

I have eaten Indian food all over the US and this place is not your usual Indian restaurant, Saffron is nicely decorated, service is good, and the food is way above average. Prices are a bit above average but so is the food. I discovered it by accident and now eat there often.

We chose Raaga because we wanted a good meal at an "early" hour before a 7:00pm show. Our waiter was very attentive to our schedule, as well as to a request for gluten-free options. The wine list is wonderful, and again the waiter courteous and knowledgable. The appetizers and food were wonderful - we'll be back - and back -... More

An online notice says "Raaga" is an ancient Sanskrit word which translates to "beautiful melody." Our experience was outstanding. We were a party of four who went because we had a good coupon through Restaurant.com. The food was fine and the service extraordinary. The order of one of our party got mixed up. The waiter left the wrong dish for... More

What a wonderful treat. This is truly a great restaurant. I enjoy Indian food, but I cannot say that I have it often. This was truly spectacular. I cannot truly recount what we ordered since we had the waiter select for us. Our party of four sampled everything that arrived. Big smiles and happy stomachs. This is a place you... More

good food, great ambiance , average service. i will be definitely back.I loved their appetizer platter with garlic naan. Now I am very happy that they are open on Mondays. Because I hate cooking on Mondays. And it is hard to find good open places especially ethnic food.

My wife, daughter and I went to Saffron a few days ago. It has always been a go-to place for us ever since we moved into the surrounding area. This time was definitely a disappointment. Saffron's cuisine has subtly changed since they opened a few years ago. Whereas the food used to be aromatic, spicy and light on the sauces,... More
