Even for UNC graduation weekend, Lantern delivered a spectacular menu of exception food with good value and excellent presentation. Fish, steak, seafood, salads and dessert all were remarkable. Flavors are subtle and complex and a great testimony to the creativity and care in the kitchen. Great for family, friends, groups and any special occasion.

After a long wait, we finally were able to eat at Lantern. Being big Euro foodies we had heard and read excellent reviews. We arrived to small but intimate restaurant to be brought to a table along the wall. The tables are small and close to each other so if you are going for an intimate private dinner this is... More

Friends and I went to Lantern on a rainy spring night and had a lovely evening of good food and excellent service. We shared two appetizers -- the pork and chive dumplings, which were good, and the vegetable spring rolls, which were absolutely delicious. Often with spring rolls, the only taste is the fried roll, but these were lightly fried... More

On the main drag in Chapel Hill with many restaurants, Lantern stands out. i wanted to try everything on the extraordinarily creative Asian influenced menu but settled on a couple of shared appetizers and entrees. Everything was perfectly prepared and beuatifully presented. Good reason to return to Chapel Hill.

Delightful Asian Fusion restaurant! Very friendly and well trained staff. Succulent food. We enjoyed every dish. Using ingredients from local farms and the right mix of spices makes every dish tasteful. Dessert melts in your mouth. This place is always very busy, make a reservation if you can.

My company recently had a corporate dinner in the Lantern's new private dining space. Everything was top notch. Jason- the General Manager- was amazing in his assistance planning the event, the space was "Awesome", food was scrumptious, and service was friendly and attentive. Not one single complaint from me or any of my attendees. Absolutely wonderful experience!

I am a regular at Lantern. I regularly enjoy the menu, but a recent visit prompted me to review it. I was hosting my mother and father as well as my brother from out of town. My brother is raw, organic AND vegan - a tough to accommodate patron eating out. Though they were only able to provide a few... More

Lantern is really very good. The dining room is smart, the service is exceptional, and the menu is innovative and interesting. But I can't help feeling the food isn't quite as exciting as it might be. Mushroom dumplings were fine, but not outstanding. A tofu green curry was delicious, but not especially original or unusual. Arctic char was excellent (i... More

Well, Lantern is very dark. If there's a power outage, you won't know it. Fortunately, the food is first class. No question. Of course, you must endure cramped dining, elevated noise, elevated prices, and dumpster decor. But, then, anything for a really good meal, right? Maybe not. What's the fun in eating an expensive dinner in the dark in a... More

My wife and I were given a gift certificate from our grand daughter. We had been wanting to go to this restaurant for a long time. When they brought the napkins, we knew we were in trouble. Smelled like that had been stored close to spoiled sesame nuts or old Crisco. Appetizers were the hit of the night - pork... More
