The food is excellent!!!! Very good indeed!!!! you don't need to book but may be dissapointed if you have to wait,as it is very popular,it's has stunning views and great if you want to take the dog along, obviously you have to eat outside then but the views make it oh so worth while!!!!!

I will keep this short. The food was OK (nothing to shout home about), but the service was absolutely awful. The waitress was rude. I could forgive them the dirty knife, forgotten drinks order and being left for 15 minutes after our main course with no offer of a final course, but I can't forgive the rudeness of the waitress,... I ordered the battered prawn special and a rare sirloin with creamy mushroom sauce.Service was prompt and polite, the view was fantastic; I was seated in the window looking out over the racecourse. The starter was perfect, crispy, succulent and well presented, my (large) glass of wine fantastic, full, not too tart. The main was a disappointing, the moment my... More

really fabulous location, food is a bit second rate alas! But it's OK for kids and big groups, not so good for couples or if you want a nice meal out for a special occasion. However, it's fine for lunch on a sunny day with all the family.

Our visit was made on the 9th May 2012. Firstly they have changed brewers and the Fullers London Pride has been removed from their selection of Bitters. Secondly my Rib eye steak was chewy, tasteless and had a considerable amount of gristle. Thirdly I ordered an apple and blackberry pie with custard, the pastry enclosing the pie was soft, doughy,... Excellent service with an attentive waiter. The food was a fair price but really just average pub food. The atmosphere was spoilt by some loud drunks on the next table

The Rubbing house is a real gem with a unique location within Epsoms downs racecourse. There is a wide and varied menu which is updated regularly. The food is always first class and the service is always friendly. Well worth a visit.

I booked this before reading the damning reviews. The car park was heaving and I didn't think we would get in. On walking through the door we were greeted by a pleasant waitress who immediately sat us at a table for four. We had an extremely efficient waiter who took drink and food orders within a minute of us sitting... More
