Was surprised to find this real coffee establishment on Murray Road, Squirrel Hill about 10 mins drive south east of downtown with a quaint courtyard with umbrellas and good feel inside. Excellent coffee but a little slow on the service, worth the wait. Great cookies, cakes, snacks. Open early morning until late....

I always like seeing local coffee shops when I travel. My favorite in Pittsburgh, and my second home when I lived here, is the 61C cafe, so named for the bus route that travels in front of the cafe. It's housed in the beautiful Squirrel Hill neighborhood.
The place is unpretentious and draws the intelligentsia crowd of Pgh. Get there...

Nice atmosphere. Bought a smoothie so I could use their wireless but they don't have enough plugs. My battery lasted 20 minutes tops. It was a bit of a waste of my time but the smoothie was still yummy. :D

The coffee is pretty good if you can get past the pretentious hipster staff, but isn't that why people go to independent cafes? If you don't like Belle & Sebastian don't expect to sit down for very long. Tables are pretty small, but just big enough for a laptop. Free WiFi.
