We just got done with the palmetto carriage tour and just stopped in. It was 1230 and we did not have a reservation, but they had room at bar if front of kitchen. I had the brisket sandwich with mac and cheese (amazing) and my fiancée had the special of the day, sloppy joe, and wow. We were able to... More

We had the appetizer special- flash fried soft shell crab with arugula, blueberries and peaches-delicious and surprisingly light. Try the tile fish, a local white fish on a bed of portobello mushrooms and tomatoes.

A rain deluge scuppered our plans to eat elsewhere: it was impossible to cross East Bay Street because of flooding, so we arrived at Cru Café after 7:00 pm without reservations. Hence we ate outside on the verandah which has limited seating, as the dining room was full. Don't be put off by the smallish building in a side street:... More

Favorite restaurant right now in Charleston. You can sit outside on the porch if you like, the chef is excellent and the food is out of this world. Second time I've been and now my #1 place.

We were on the hunt for the best fried green tomatoes. Cru Café made this dish best. I had the duck and my husband had the salmon. Both were cooked to perfection. The wait staff was efficient but pleasant. I would recommend this restaurant.

After enjoying a wonderful dinner at Cru Cafe, my husband and I decided to return the following day for lunch. We were equally impressed. The food was fresh, creative and delicious, and the service was friendly, with just the right amount of attention.

We expected more, got less. The food was fine, the service was not so fine. Never had the impression that we were anything other than two more people who placed an order, got their food, and were scheduled to move on into the night so two more could be processed the same way. This restaurant is more than small... when... More

My wife and I visited Cru Café after a performance at the Spoleto Festival. We had misjudged our timing terribly, and arrived about a half hour earlier than our reservation. "No problem," the hostess said, and seated us promptly. Our server, Johnnie, presented us with menus and informed us of the entrees which had already sold out (even though we... More

This small restaurant provided very good food and service. A creative menu, with all the dishes the four of us tried done well. We will return, which means quite a bit in Charleston.

It was our first time trying Cru and we were very pleased we did. The restaurant is small and only seats about 36 people, but do not be fooled the dishes deliver! We tried the fried oysters with slaw as an appetizer and it was quite good. We had the grilled salmon and the baked Wreck fish as our main... More
