My wife & I stopped here after reading about it in a Texas Monthly article about cafes. This cafe is "hidden" on the square. Just look between the general store (which is worth a look itself) and the art shop. The wife chose the grilled pork chop w/a salad & sweet potato fries. At $11.99 it was priced OK and... More

Let me start by saying I like Joe's. Small town eatery filled with real country people. Basic menu with basic good cooking. But today the service was slow and the preparation and delivery of the food was so very slow. So slow we considered walking out as others did. The food was good when it arrived but Joe, you are... One of our food missions is to hit all of Texas Monthly's best small town cafes. Yesterday, we added Joe's to our personal "best" list. The chicken fried steak was among the most memorable we have ever had--the perfect balance of crisp/tender. The vinegar based coleslaw kept the meal from being too heavy. Easily splittable. The kids devoured their catfish... More

Make sure to make Joe's a stop if you are in the Fayetteville area. Give yourself lots of time since the service is slow. That's just part of country living. Their food has been excellent every time I have eaten there and I love their chicken breast sandwich. The catfish is fabulous. They had a meatloaf special that included drink... More

We were visiting for the antique shows nearby, and we had a very nice meal at Joe's. The waitress was very friendly, and the good was good. Recommend the chicken fried!

Upon recommendation from the golf pro at The Falls, decided to try Joe's Place. Joe's is quite an experience. The setting is country town perfect. An old building, old creaking wood floors..definitely not one of the cookie cutter chain restaurants. Had the chicken fried steak and a very cold beer. The food was tasty and very good. I was there... More

After reading an on-line article, last night, about Joe's Place at Baca Saloon as being, (in 2008) one of the top 40 cafes in Texas according to Texas Monthly Magazine, we decided to make the 1/2-hour trip from Brenham to try it out. They were reported to make most everything homemade or "in-house" and not pre-made. We each had a... More

My friend and I stopped by here on our way to pick up our kids for church camp. I had mentioned to her that I had eaten here before and the food was great! So, we stopped, found ourselves a table and waited, and waited! Our waitress finally took our drink order and food orders. After that, she ignored us.... More

Stay clear of this place. The waitress "Angel" was completely rude and didn't try to take care of us at all. We even mentioned we saw positive reviews on line and had decided to come here. She never brought us our salads. We had to go ask for them after our food came. She gave us a terrible attitude and... More
