Not sure what the hype is all about....Leon is a nice guy to meet, very friendly, the servers are nice. But honestly, the food is not worth mentioning. Brisket was dry, ribs were not falling off the bone and the sauce was very watery and tasteless. To their credit the cole slaw was crisp, beer selection not bad, but that's... More

It was fun to eat where the locals go and reasonable prices! The outside looks like a little old house but great service inside.

After two mediocre meals in Galveston, we were about to throw in the towel until a couple was raving about the place so... We decided to go. Did not regret our decision at all. The place is not much to look at but boy! was the food great! We had the ribs and North Carolina chopped pork, both were excellent.... More

My husband and I ordered brisket, ribs, macaroni and cheese and potato salad to go. The brisket was tender and tasty. It was very salty as if it had been brined. The ribs were tough and hard to get the meat off the bone. Skip them for the brisket or sausage. The sides were forgettable - potatoes hard in the... More

After reading all the great reviews, We were really looking forward to this world famous bar-b-q. At our age, we have eaten plenty of good tasting bar-b-q but this not meet our expections. I guess it all depends on your taste buds. We met Mr. Leon & he is a very nice person but we won't be back.

Leon's BBQ took me back to a place that my father and I frequented when I was a child. A place where the people were caring and friendly and the food was just downright delicious! My husband and I bought two-two meat dinners and EVERYTHING was finger licking good. My only regret was buying one piece of their homemade pecan... More

We'd read about Leon's on Trip Advisor and knew we wanted to have dinner here on our stay in Galveston. We showed up for a carry out dinner a few minutes after Leon had closed for the night, but he was waiting for some people who'd called ahead to say they were driving in for some BBQ from almost an... We were in town for a cruise on RCI Mariner and found Leon's on Tripadvisor. We were glad we did! The decor is nothing to write home about but the food was really good and the price was too. I recommend getting the three meat plate and splitting it between 2 people. We had the brisket, Carolina chipped pork and... More

Found this restutanta on trip advisor and decided to give it a try. Glad we did. The food was excellent. A family owned restutanta, Leon's been in business for 27 years. Came around and spoke to all of us. Huge portion sizes and price was great. We all (party of 7) all left very full and not a scrap left.... More

Wanted a true BBQ experience (don't have it where we live). The place didn't look like much from outside but we were welcomed inside and the food exceeded expectation. Low on the ambience but high on the quality.
