Description: A culinary island in Southern Utah, the Painted Pony brings a touch of class--and intriguing flavors--to St. George. The restaurant, tucked away in Ancestor Square, is exceptionally clean and cozy, with contemporary art, fresh flowers, and -- in the evening -- a top notch romantic atmosphere with subdued lighting and patio dining. If your surroundings don't clue you in, your first glance at the menu will. Painted Pony is not your standard fare. Contemporary American cuisine evidently doesn't mean just another good steakhouse, and the simply written food descriptions promise something new and intriguing for your palate. The Painted Pony has perfected the fine art of using fresh ingredients and delicate flavoring. An exceptional wine list, generous portions, attentive service, and reasonable prices will convince you to return to "the Pony" anytime you're in St. George.

If you want a unique dining experience with out of towners or locals, this is the best place in town.. great food and great environment at Ancestor Square in the center of downtown St. George. Their food selection and quality is great.. pricing is higher than normal, but reasonable.

We had an excellent dinner at the Painted Pony on our first night in St. George. I had a short rib that was very tasty and my wife had Rack of Lamb which was delicious. Our waiter. Ron?, was excellent. Unusual Menu, perfect for Foodies. Upscale dining in St. George! Can't wait to go back

We stopped on our way to Bryce NP and had a wonderful meal, the sandwiches are to die for! And the desserts looked just as good. The value was good too. Wish I lived closer as I'd be going frequently. Exceptional service!

I have to warn other foodies - I don't know if southern Utah is the best place for a consistently good meal. However, we had an excellent dinner at the Painted Pony on our first night in St. George. I had a pork chop that was very tasty and a nice mocktail since I am pregnant. Upscale dining in St.... More

Not only is the menu excellent, the staff bent over backwards to accommodate my food allergies. We eat here every time we are in St. George. The luncheon salads are superb. The steak was grilled to perfection. Our table had a nice view of a courtyard. This restaurant is deserving of all of the rave reviews.

We love to eat lunch here because it isn't as expensive as the dinner menu. I especially love the Reuben sandwich. Save room for one of their yummy desserts.

Great fine dining menu, nice patio, quick service. Worth the drive. Will come back to try other menu items.

Did I mention the service was really great?? I had something a simple as the bone-in pork chop. It was cooked to perfection. I also had the coconut shrimp and the brie appetizers. Wow!

There are not a lot of good places to eat in St. George. I found a great spot called the Painted Pony in the Historical District. The food was excellent, as was the service. I sat outside on the deck, which was nicely shaded, and offered a very relaxing setting. I highly recommend taking in a meal on the deck... More
