Excellent Italian restaurant, in Belmont area of C'ville. Always has been well-thought of. BUT GET THERE BEFORE SIX PM, because it will be full shortly after that. Popular.
I did not like the attitude when we first walked in without a reservation. We decided to ignore the attitude and gladly took a seat at the bar where we thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the chefs. The food was amazing! Wines are so-so. But overall a great evening out with my honey.
Seasonal kale salad was great. We had roasted veggies and seasonal carrots. Pasta with tomato sauce. Delicious chestnut cheesecake.
We were told we would have about a 20 minute wait and they took our phone number so we strolled the neighborhood a bit and returned in 20 minutes. We waited almost another 45 minutes. The place is really small and really loud. It was difficult to have any conversation. We went because I had read so many reviews that... More
This place is small, I think it only seats 37. The kitchen area is open, behind the bar. They serve beer and wine. It's a little loud, with the acoustics creating a boominess. It's a very popular place and everyone was having a wonderful time, including us. It has a tall tin ceiling. But don't get me wrong. The wine... More
If I'm going out to dinner this is one of my go-to places. LOVE it, love the food, the only frustration is you have to get there when they open to ensure you've got a table, otherwise you'll wait, and it's a tight space in which to wait. That said, the wait is always worth it, the food is consistently... More
Visited Monticello and wanted Italian for dinner. Tavola was the highest rated place in Charlottesville per Trip Advisor so we decided to give it a shot. As with most recommendations from the Advisor, we were NOT disappointed. Small place and filled up rapidly. Very friendly and helpful staff. Surprisingly extensive wine list and very eclectic menu which places a premium... More
Been multiple times; this time my wife had one of the best prepared pieces of fish (Branzino) of all time. It's always a challenge getting in. If you are lucky to snare one of the few seats at their bar, beer and wine is available. If not, they will take a cell phone and you can pop next door to... More
It was so loud, it was hard to enjoy the food. In this case, that was a good thing because the scallops were under cooked. This place was terrible, I think maybe okay for families but for good food.... Go elsewhere.
We were in Charlottesville for a visit. We went on a weekday night and were seated immediately. The level of noise was unbelievable and ruined the dining experience. The atmosphere and decor is not there. No tablecloths, no real napkins. The food is good but portions are skimpy and dishes overpriced. It is the first italian restaurant that I have... More
