The food at The Shebeen is amazing - I had the polenta and my husband had the Piri Piri chicken. Perfectly spiced, really flavorful, just a great overall experience! I would highly recommend.

The reviews were true - we sat outside on the patio, ate til we couldn't breathe and throroughly enjoyed ourselves! Would probably be the first place we'd go back to on our next visit and we could even take the kids! Staff were great, food was fab and though I couldn't smoke on the patio after my meal, I didn't...

Unique food, have been several times. First time there I had bobotie which is no longer on the menu. There are several other good dishes but none as good as the bobotie.
Five of us ordered different items; all of us left happy and satiated.

I have eaten at Shebeen many times. Today was another good meal at reasonable prices. Every item on the menu, including the specials have always been fresh, colorful and presented on a lovely plate. Today our server was efficient and attentive. The environment is dimly lit and cozy. The beautiful wood floors, tables and decor make the restaurant a comfortable...

What a wonderful selection of tasty treats. I enjoyed the Sosaties and my sister in law had the Lamb Potjie. We will definitely visit again when back in Charlottesville. Prices were also very reasonable for what you get.
Excellent meal. Everything was fresh and beautifullly presented. Service was a little bit off.
We went there with a group of friends for a birthday party. The staff were very kind and helpful. In my opinion the food was average (Chicken) but other friends find their foods great. I recommend it.
South African food done very well. Favorites are curried corn chowder, ground nut stew and sosatie. Interesting beer list. Atmosphere is OK. Service is usually attentive, and the owner /manager seems to care how the restaurant is performing. Parking is ample and FREE for as long as you want...this is important in Charlottesville. The do dinner early if you have...
