I asked for the BBQ Sampler The waitress thought I mumbled Salmon. I had both and they were great. My wife's pulled chicken was just as tasty.

There was a time this was a fantastic restaurant with a great menu and atmosphere. I'm not sure if it's changed ownership, or what has happened, but everything has gone way downhill. Quite possibly some of the worst food I've had in terms of quality and taste. The atmosphere was downright creepy. We will definitely NOT be back to visit....

My fiance and I always use trip advisor. We wanted to try a new place so looked up tripadvisor and it gave us The Vino restaurant in Front Royal which was #1. Upon driving past it we realized they had closed for a wedding party so the restaurant right next door was Soul Mountain. I looked it up and even...

Front Royal, Virginia, aspires to be more than the entrance to Skyline Drive and the last exit before you get to Highway 81. To this end, the city has developed a little downtown area, and that in turn has attracted an interesting restaurant, the Soul Mountain Cafe. It comes complete with family photos and back story on the wall as...

Recent visit with a girlfriend to an institution which has had many incarnations; most recently this throwback to a hippie enclave. The food was fresh, generous and good. Atmosphere ok, paint fresh and floor clean. Bathrooms not assessed. Make sure you are hungry if you order the delicious artichoke dip--huge portions of the rich cheesy delight come to the table...

Great inexpensive menu. Had pulled pork and fries which was cheap and good food. Wife had salad with grilled chicken which she also said was world class. Fast and courteous and attentive waiter. Cook came out to see if it was to our liking
We had eaten here on a previous trip to Front Royal and it was excellent; however, this time, the wait for staff to even give you water and a menu was slow. After ordering, it took almost 40 minutes for our food...they were understaffed in the kitchen we were told. When my food arrived, it had a side dish which...

The ribs had a very peppery sauce on the after I asked no to put a lot of sauce on them. The rib itself was cartilage. No bone. This indicates boiling, I think. The ribs were very dry and over cooked. My husband's fish was overcooked also.
We drove down from Skyline Drive to look for a place for lunch and just happened upon Soul Mountain. We could not have made a better choice. Everything we had was great, the barbeque sauce (that I think they make there, and also sell it in bottles) was some of the best I have ever tasted. And that includes all...

Soul Mountain is a restaurant I've eaten at about 8-10 times now. They've been through some tough times financially and had even stopped serving alcohol due to the cost of the licensing etc. but I always supported them still. I believe they serve it again now though. Not a show stopper by any means for me anyway.
Food is inspired...
