Atmosphere galore; impeccable service; great wine list; well planned and prepared food from local suppliers. Great for business dinners, a quiet evening with someone special or just a treat when you need one.

While visiting my son going to school at JMU we decided to try something a cut above the plethora of chain food establishments in Harrisonburg, VA. The decor is open and very nice highlighting the buildings history. The entire restaurant is extremely clean, but its the food that is the stand out. You select an entree, then select a dipping... Driving home from up north and planning to stop in Roanoke for the night - passing through Harrisonburg and found this gem of a restaurant. Everything was fabulous - ordered rib eye with mushroom risotto and the yukon potatoes - flawless - husband had duck with duck fat fries - equally delicious. Salad, soup and dessert were also incredible. Food... More

A business casual ambiance with outstanding food. The menu, especially the "specials" are outstanding and well prepared. The wine list is extensive. Service is superb. When you want an extraordinary night out but not too "fussy", go to Local.

Wow!! This place is awesome!! They have one of the best ribeye steaks I have ever eaten, bar none. Also have wonderful spicy buffalo burgers! Their duck fat fries are about as good as it gets. Also have great Mac and cheese and alcoholic drinks. In the winter they have an awesome hot cider. Must try if in the area.

The Local Chop and Grill house is the first to impress on our search for a great downtown restaurant. The food was delicious and the service good. The Hostess was not very polite (hence the 4 stars). Next visit we are looking forward to dinner in the dining room.

Local Chop and Grill is a great place if you love a good steak! All our food was very good! The steaks were cooked perfectly! And I was really impressed with the great selection of dipping sauces and rubs. Not a fan of ruining my steak with sauces or rubs, but I am glad I tried these, they were excellant.... More

This is a must-visit if you are in Harrisonburg. The place feels like a high-end European restaurant with an American menu changed according to season. The waiter was very helpful and knowledgable - particularly with regards to the wines and the general questions that we had on their wine cellar. The food was exceptional and probably the best of its... More
