Really friendly staff. Food was lovely and so fresh. Really loved the use of fresh fruit in the salad. After dinner we sat next to the river. It was such a relaxing way to spend an evening and will be back soon.

In many respects, the Hope & Anchor is a typical country pub, like many, many others. What differentiates it is the location. It's set in the small village, or hamlet, of Blacktoft, on the north bank of the River Ouse. When the weather is good, you can sit right at water's edge, in the perfect quiet of the area, watching... this place just gets better with each visit, excellent homemade food freshly prepared to a first class standard, nothing frozen at all, amazes me how some people find room for a sweet ! jovial landlord and staff add to a brilliant pub and restaraunt,

We met up with friends for Sunday lunch and I was under the misapprehension that this pub only offers a limited menu on a Sunday, consisting of choice of beef, lamb or pork. Consequently I ordered roast beef, which I wouldn't have done had I realised that I was free to choose from the a la carte, as I am... More

We have just had our very first visit to the Hope and Anchor - what a beautiful pub the surroundings and atmosphere were lovely. The decor and cleanliness are excellent one little gripe would be that the tables in the conservatory whilst clean (we saw the staff clean them as people came and went) have a build up of the... We have eaten at the H&A several times, mostly at weekends asa family group. It has always been satisfactory, not amazing but decent. Last visit was on a Friday evening, and we were refused any hot food as it was 10 minutes after last orders for food, no offer of "well the kitchen could do a sandwich or something", just... More

We've never been disappointed on our many visits here...the staff are always friendly and a table in the conservatory is particularly good, especially if there is high tide. Looking out, there can be some lovely sunsets too..However, it is the food that makes the place extra special! There is a wide choice on the regular menu, and always specials on... More
