We went there for lunch, and got seated in the front table facing the lush green grass ground. It was very pleasant and relaxing. It is the open air plantation style and the staff was very welcoming. Food was good and at a very reasonable price. I had a swordfish dish with rice, and hubby had fish taco. Both were... More

We have been here before and enjoyed their chicken dish but this time it wasn't very good. The waffle maker was broken and they served it with just some mashed potatoes. The pineapple cake desert was very dry. My husband had the banana coconut cream pie that was very good

In 2011, the best meal we had on Kauai was at a place called 22 North at the Kilohana Plantation. Two years later, 22 North is no more, instead at the same location is Gaylords. How disappointing. We booked here again, hoping it was only a name change. The Ambiance is still spectacular: open air dining in the plantation house.... More

This review is for the dinner my wife and I enjoyed here in April 2013. We were staying at the Marriott Kauai Beach Club in Lihue, so Gaylord's was only 10 minute drive from our hotel. While the menu was limited, there were both fresh seafood, pork, beef, lamb and poultry selections. We skipped an appetizer to save room for... More

The place looks like an old British farm house from the outside. Inside, you enter a beautiful foyer with hardwood floors, then go up a few steps and angle to the left to enter the restaurant. The hostess is lovely, and the entire lunchtime dining area is situated around a sun-splashed courtyard, and looks out across a manicured lawn toward... More

Ask for a table around the perimeter of the courtyard. The setting was exceptional, as was the service and food. Great place to celebrate a special occasion!

Gaylords is in an old plantation home half way between Lihui. The cuisine is Pacific, the menu is largely local produce, fish, and meat. The setting is elegant (for Kauai), and the pace is slow. My wife and I both had fish dishes, the fish was very fresh and done to perfection. The salads couldn't have been fresher, the deserts... More

Gaylord's is a lovely setting for an elegant dinner. Our server was exceptionally pleasant, the food was very good but not great, and the setting was charming. It's one of the better restaurants in the Kapaa-Lihue area. I've been going to Gaylord's for the past 10 years when I am in Kauai, and it's always consistent.

I really loved the history, the decor and how we were treated like real people-- not tourists, We had the Chicken crepes and an excellent field greens salads for lunch. The fireplace and handcrafted wood doors are craftsmanship to respect. Glad they have not replaced with plasitc modern decor.

Located on a former plantation, the train tour, shops, and walk around the plantation is best when you have lunch at Gaylord's. Eat in a setting you rarely get to enjoy and yes, a rooster or two might ask to share some of your food. How fun this was!
