What a wonderful setting with all the wood finish. The food is great. The owners are wonderful. It's a place you can relax. Pricing is the same as everywhere in Gunnison County. Can't beat the experience!

Three of us ate last night at the Trough for the second time in the past year or so and I was, again, not thrilled. The meal certainly was not bad, but for $25.00 a pop (including one drink and tax) on average, you should get something more than average. We were dining on the late side, but well before...

We have always had good times here. Fun place to socialize and good food. However, in the past several years, the food has declined dramatically. Service has become slow and the food preparation shows lack of passion. Keeping locals happy should be a priority since we tell tourists, when asked, where to go for good food. I can only hope...

9/26/2012 Poor Value - Slow Service.
Lady at hotel recommended for steak dinner. Had evening special, 12oz Ribeye with Mushrooms. Steak was thin, dried-out, and with ONE solitary mushroom cut in-half on top, $23.95. A dozen small zuchini pieces for vegetable. When I am in the heart of cattle country, I expect a 12oz steak to be thick, juicy, and...

The Trough is a local favorites with their Happy Adult meal menus in the bar and excellent prime rib and steaks out on the main floor. I like the rib eye with the wild mushrooms and the tempura shrimp.
My wife and I stumbled upon the "Trough" after noticing their sign while driving by on Hwy 50. We have a running joke beause a friend and I often eat at the Golden Corral Buffet, so our wives tease us by joking we are always at the "trough". Anyway are we glad we went in. I ordered the Prime Rib...

My husband and I enjoyed dinner at the Trough. He had the prime rib and I had the trout. Both were good. We had their creme brulee for dessert and that was delicious!! Would recommend this to anyone who's visiting Gunnison.
We had dinner here on a evening as we were passing through Gunnison.
The food was good (loved the family style salad with different dressings to choose from), but the whole situation is a bit surreal.
The building looks a bit run down and the inside is old and icky, but the service is excellent (they even have cocktail waitresses)...

I was in Gunnison for the 4th of July balloon festival and ate at the Trough three times, twice in the evening and once at lunch. The food was excellant as was the service and atmosphere. The lunch specials are very good and price wise competative with any fast-food restaurant. The restaurant was very busy but maintained excellant service throughout...

July 4th - we were concerned about finding a 'nice' place to dine. We landed at the Trough and ended up having a great meal. Enjoyed the Prime rib - huge and cooked well and the trout almondine- bit dry. Salad, served family style with he meal was awesome; served with several homemade dressing which were also great. Sides were...
