The food was delicious and the menu included some items not found on 'chain' Mexican restaurants. The chips and salsa were unique and tasty and the mole sauce on the real chicken breast was to die for. Can't rate this place high enough if you like authentic Mexican food (not tex-mex). The place is small so you might have to... More

Heard about "the place next to the old graveyard" by a friend who saw it in an in-flight magazine. The food is excellent and plentiful and the chiles (red and green) were both wonderful. Definitely a hole in the wall sort of place and the service was a little slow, but the food was worth the wait.

The staff was very accommodating and provided me with a chili relano, taco, burrito, and beans all of which were meatless. The flan at the end of the meal was also superb. Be prepared to pay cash.

This was our second trip to El Paso on business but the first time to eat at L&J. We visited with locals for lunch. It is quite small and parking is limited but the food was great. Chiles rellenos, picadillo plates, tacos, enchiladas, sopapillas... All were great. Prices were reasonable. The walls are lines with photos of famous visitors. A... More

Best Tx Mx in EP. And compares favorably against any such anywhere. Haven't had anything bad from their menu, but I like green chili chicken enchiladas, Oscar's Special (great green chili cheesburger) and Chili Colorado (very rich red chili. similar to carne adovado but with beef instead of pork). Enjoy the food and talk about the cemetary The Concordia Cemetary... More

Driving from Pensacola to California we had to make our way through Texas, and right through El Paso... We decided Mexican sounded good, so at a rest stop on the way to El Paso I busted out the i-Pad and queried TripAdvisor to see where the best Mexican food in El Paso could be found. When I checked, L&J Cafe... More

dinner last night was sloppy. The green chili chicken enchiladas (3) had little to no chicken in them- several tortillas rolled up to look like it was full of something. The chile conqueso dip was sloppy, watery- a microwaved mess of decent green with cheeap cheese. The taste of the canned green chile is good but it is canned. We... More

Come here for the excellent food and you will come back or wish you could! Tucked in a barrio next to a cemetery, don't let the neighborhood or lack of parking scare you off. After a 15 minute wait we had fast, attentive service and we were asked by three different people, including our waitress if we needed anything else.... More

Coming from TX going to NM, we stopped in El Paso for a quick lunch at L&J cafe. Though the place is popular we had to wait approx 20 min to have a table, it was really worth it. Service was friendly, and food was very good. We particularly enjoyed the fresh greens coming with the food, and the home... More

Visited twice over a couple of days. Very friendly service and the food tasted great to us. Prices were good and the place is very authentic. Nice quiet location.(go there, you'll see) It was just what we expected. All round a good experience and congratulations to the owners for doing this for so long.
