Our favorite place to meet during any season, but a GREAT PLACE in the warmer months when the outside serving area is open. SIlk City is a constant, since it was originally on 42 second street in the 80's. The atmosphere is informal and slightly eclectic. The staff is knowledgeable about the menu and are upbeat and friendly. The food... More

Family of four had a fantastic lunch at Silk City Diner this past weekend. Went out of our way to find the place because my foodie teenager wanted to go here (based on a "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" feature). Food was awesome. Atmosphere was fun and funky and the place was hopping. Had the option to eat outside or in.... More

Grabbed a seat at the counter. Was eating solo. Parking out front or across the street. Don't forget to feed the meters. Two quarters will cover an hour. The staff was very helpful. The inside is eclectic in decorations. The bartender was very friendly and explained what they had on special, both food and liquid refreshments. Soup was good, could... More

Went there for brunch on Easter Sunday. So many good choices it was hard to decide. Had Pastrami hash, french toast. Everything was delicious!

We stopped in at the Silk City Diner on Easter Sunday. What a great place... The decor, the wait staff and most importantly the food. You will not be disappointed... We had the huevos rancheros, the chocolate pancakes, the belgium waffle with ice cream and fruit, and a porkchop dish. The only thing that was left was a little bit... More

Just happened to see the diner featured on the show right before living for Philadelphia and added it to our trip agnda, It is not in a part of the city we would have been in save for the show. It is upscale diner food done well. The staff is friendly and efficient. We had Bloody Marias-think tequilla instead of... More

The huevos rancheros were phenomenal. I kept eating them until my whole body hurt. Holy hell. Everyone else at my table had other things that they enjoyed, but I barely had time to ask in between scarfing down my meal. My drink (something with gin and a lemon peel) smelled delicious (because of the aforementioned lemon peel) but tasted just... More

Wifey and I decided to give this triple D reviewed diner a try and we weren't disappointed. I guess if I had to say what is most important or what I like about a restaurant in doing a review for TA I'd say its quality of food (including preparation) and service. Silk City, for a diner exceeded my expectations in... More

My wife and 2 teenagers decided to spend the weekend in Philly as we had never been there before. As usual my wife makes all the plans and never fails on the eating spots when we travel. The kids had standard diner breakfast fare and they enjoyed it. My wife raved about the chicken and waffles but I decided on... More
