Great restaurant. The food was excellent. We recommend the French Onion Soup...lots of gooey cheese...They have an excellent salad with all kinds of veggies not just lettuce and the Honey Mustard Dressing was awesome, wish they sold it.

Dobbin House Tavern succeeds in providing both an enjoyable theme and delicious dining. The setting and ambiance makes it easy to imagine you are traveling back in time. And we were delighted that the food matched the setting in excellence. We ate upstairs in the fine-dining area. Everyone in our small group enjoyed their meals. The crab cakes and hunter's...

We stopped here for dinner while touring Gettysburg. Got there at 4:40 PM and went into the gift shop to inquire about dinner. A real nice lady told us all about the dining options and even made us a reservation for 5:00PM in the main dining room. Service and food was excellent. We had Ruth for a waitress and she...

The building was built in 1776 and is the oldest building in Gettysburg. It was on the underground railroad, and they have a small museum upstairs. There are actually two restaurants in this place - an informal tavern downstairs and a more formal dining room upstairs. The dining room is divided into many different rooms of the house - we...

We had to wait nearly 35 minutes for a table. I would have left but one friend had his heart set on eating there so we waited. It was dark, as another reviewer pointed out. And chilly because it was a spring house. We never saw or heard the Spring as it was too noisy and crowded. The baked onion...

We ate in the tavern...twice. Both times we had the french onion soup and crab cake sandwiches. Simply the best!!!
we ate in the basement tavern and the food was good. The space is tight with tables and chairs crowded in a small low ceiling room, but the wait staff did a good job and the food was good.
Extremely disappointed. We are world travelers and are used to good food. The Dobbin House was touted by a few locals as a five star...NOT! The food is just OK...salad ridiculously silly and food cookie cutter. Extremely overpriced for what you get. However, the bullet holes from the battle embedded in the walls, may just make up for it. The...

Convenient location in Gettysburg and within walking distance of downtown. Approx. 3/4 - 1 mile nice walk from the square in Gettysburg. We have eaten in the basement section a few times. Hamburgers are very good. Salads are good too. Portion size is average and prices average. Atmosphere is nice, yet casual. It can be dark downstairs, especially when trying...

We had a deli sandwich, french onion soup and 2 burgers at our table. We all thought the food was tasty. They make their own hamburger meat local. We ate in the cellar part of the Dobbin House Tavern. Upstairs looked a bit more upscale.
