Description: Discover downtown Danville's hidden gem! The Peasant & The Pear, located along a brick pathway behind the Danville Clock Tower, owes its name to its rustic California & Mediterranean cuisine, and to its location in the agricultural region that once housed the world's largest pear orchard. Executive Chef and owner Rodney Worth, voted "Best Chef 2008" by the readers of Diablo magazine, honors the area's history by offering delicious, unpretentious, seasonal menus that showcase the very freshest ingredients available. Whether dining in the warm, Tuscan-style dining room, outside on the large private courtyard, or at the antique Parisian bar, you'll be wowed by the fabulous food, the great selection of wine & spirits, and the staff's friendly, knowledgeable service, all offered at an incredible value.

Ive been to the Peasant and The Pear many times and find that it consistently provides a very good dining experience. On weekends and special occasions, reservations are a must... this place gets really busy. You can sometimes grab a table in the bar, but it is very small, so it's hit and miss. The menu has some great items... More

A few years ago I had a very good lunch here. Recently, I brought my wife for a quick lunch, we arrived early. Another enjoyable visit. Food is well prepared. Service was okay. The owner should be a little more attentive to customers.

Taking a 2 day bike ride found us at Danville at lunch time on the second day. Knowing nothing about Danville and not living in the area, we wandered around (not far from our bikes) until we saw one with a name we liked and thought interesting. We happened to be on the "back" patio side of the restaurant and... More

A fine place to dine if you are in Danville to visit friends or before you take in a play at the wonderful Village Theater. The food is very good. We had a fresh, mixed salad new to the menu with greens, artichoke hearts, asparagus, and peas with a citrus vinaigrette dressing. The mussel appetizer was shared as an entree... More

Had dinner here on a Saturday night with my husband and adult son. We were seated at our reservation time (always a plus!). The bar area is a bit crowded - so going early and getting a drink depends on what time you are due to be seated. If you go at prime time, the bar will be almost impossible.... More

My husband and I typically dine at restaurants close to home; however, I decided to step out of our rutt and make reservations for a belated Valentine's dinner at the Peasant and the Pear. The Friday evening dining crowd was hopping, and the diners chatting rather loudly, but it fit the atmosphere quite perfectly. Our salads were quite generous and... More

Really excellently done California Mediterrean food. I had the grilled eggplant panini. What made it special was the high quality of the bread and the good tomatoes - in the dead of winter. Service was attentive and gracious. My friend had the salmon sandwich and it was a really good size piece of salmon. She took half home and it... More

What a wonderful place to meet for a business luncheon! Quaint atmosphere, comfortable chairs and tables, quiet enough for normal conversation, excellent service, and wonderful food. We each had the Black and Blue Salad...excellent. Our server stopped by the perfect number of times: often enough to take care of whatever we needed before we had to ask, but not so... More

Our food was good, but the prices are pretty high given the lack of ambience in the room. Tables closely placed together, no privacy. Service was friendly but a bit slow.
