Quiet and Cozy Café/restaurant in Dumbo with full Bar. Average prices and a CASH only restaurant. Buzy for lunch crowd during week due to location. Staff friendly and responsive.

We stayed in the area and besides that this was really convenient, the food was really good. The service is also very good and atmosphere is relaxed. We had the grilled seppiolina and the baby octopus for starter: and a good start is was. As a main we both had white fish with spinach: it tasted great! The Pinot Grigio... More

I was in Dumbo area to attend St. Ann's Warehouse Theatre, and planned to eat at another restaurant that i found closed due to hurricane damage. Wandering around looking for something not pizza, I sat down in AlMar. The waiter was very welcoming. The space is comfortable and unpretentious. In the center is a large communal table. I sat at... When visiting the Dumbo (Brooklyn) do yourself a favour and walk the few extra yards away from the tourist traps down near the water and visit this great little cafe / restaurant. There is a very simple and relaxed feel to this place and you are made welcome as soon as your walk through the door. The menu is not... More

Scroll through the reviews and you will note this as an update from my original October 10 post. I am writing in specific response to the sad and unrealistic report dated August 13. My original visit was with my wife on what many long time marrieds would call a "stollen evening" No real plans, no expectations, just a nice dinner.... More

Great Italian food in a lovely restaurant. Convenient location and friendly serving staff. Little bit pricey but worth it.

I can now officially write a review, now that I have visited and dined at Al MAr. You know, reading so many reviews, one starts getting skeptical, and need to read between the lines and such. The place was excellent. 1) didin;t even know they had Happy Hour ON A SATURDAY NIGHT---which was awesome, I think they said they begin... More

Normally we stay in the Heights but this trip we landed in Dumbo. It was raining and we were not up to the traverse to Henry Street so we cris crossed Front to see what looked inviting. AlMar had that "come on in" feel with the owner standing at the door smiling. 7PM, half the tables were occupied so we... More

I am looking forward to a good ol Brooklyn Italian restaurant, I understand they don;t have any old school types (only Lugars is left form the old days), only bistros and hipster types I guess----anyway, I found this restaurant---Al Mar---and hope it won;t let me down---on the review with Cash Only, as I research many other establishments in the area,...
