There's a lot of hype for this restaurant. Our first contact with the restaurant was with the hostess. We arrived 5 minutes early and were told in no uncertain terms that it would be 20 minutes before we could be seated. The restaurant was not even 3/4 filled. A smile would have been welcome. Food quality was average. The steaks... More

Five of us in the party and 5 outstanding meals. Not inexpensive but if you are struggling with Emerils Delmonico versus Mr. Johns, take Mr. Johns at least based on my experience. Pricey but you will find this worth it. Not much more to say about it. A meal never to be forgotten.

If you are in search of a fabulous steak of almost any cut, this is your place. Just a short and inexpensive cab ride from the French Quarter, Mr. John's is also easily accessible by the St. Charles Trolley. The NY Strip Steak and Filet Mignon were thick and prepared just as requested. Seasoning was perfect. Try their house mashed... More

As restaurant steaks go, Mr. John's does a pretty good job. In fact this is one of the better steaks I have had while dining out. Of course you do need to realize that a big part of that flavor is the clarified butter they put on the steak. But for chew and tenderness, I cannot remember the last time... More

Went to Mr. John's on arriving in the Garden District on the hotel's recommendation. The visit was outstanding. Upscale but not stuffy. I liked the food and service. They prepared something especially for me since I am sensitive to garlic. It was deelish. The next night at Emerils I asked for something with the least amount of garlic. I had... More

My wife and I have eaten in most of the more famous spots in NOLA, so for our last evening we opted for a steakhouse near our hotel in the Garden District. What a great choice. Mr. John's is a world class steakhouse. The staff from the general manager to wait staff were knowledgable and attentive without being overbearing. Our... More

Classic steakhouse. The quality and taste of the prime steaks was amongst the best we've ever experienced.

Overall the meal was fabulous. The steaks were fantastic, the best I have had in a long long time. The crabcake app was wonderful too. The service was good and attentive. The only negative of the place was the reception upon entering, the hostess was less than enthused another patron walked in but we were seated in just a few... More

Steaks were OK but not outstanding. You have to pay extra for vegetables and with higher than average drinks prices this was altogether a bit on the expensive side. If anything restaurant is a bit on the pretentious side and is trying to justify a premium price for a pretty average product, outwith the main area of eating in NO.... More

2nd best steak Ive ever had in my life, only next to Mike Shannon's in St Louis where you dont even need a steak knife. Its a little pricey but an excellent meal in a great Garden District location. I am returning there this November for sure. Yum!
