Description: When in North Yorkshire, be sure to seek out the lovely village of Aldwick and its namesake pub-restaurant The Aldwark Arms. This charming family owned venue is precisely what a village pub should be - quaint but sophisticated, cosy but special, homely but a break from the norm. Decorated with great care and attention to detail, The Aldwark Arms could only be described as country-casual, earth tones used to great effect, Chesterfield settees providing a comfy place to park and, of course, roaring fires for those post-country walk warm ups with pints and pies. In the bar, enjoy hand pulled lagers and ales, a great selection of wines and simple, delicious bar food based entirely on Yorkshire grown and bred produce. The more formal restaurant provides the ideal atmosphere in which to enjoy a well thought out British a la carte menu, dishes prepared freshly every day using locally sourced ingredients. While the a la carte menu changes monthly the Aldwark Arms daily specials blackboard provides a further touch of seasonality.

Have just returned from the Arms, which is one of my locals, and feel compelled to advise you not to bother to travel out! Apart from one soup which had delicious truffle oil in, (yet to meet an undelicious truffle!) we were very unimpressed. I am a 'foodie' but my other half would eat a rag and enjoy it: I... More

Brilliant. Welcoming staff, cozy atmosphere and tasty food. Doesn't open for lunch during the week but fairly rural area and I doubt they get the footfall in the current economic climate. Excellent Steak, good menu choice and the Chef came out to check all was ok for us. Really enjoyed our evening and would willingly return.

We visited this pub a few years ago, and it has always remained a place I wanted to revisit. I have been receiving their flyers for a while, so when I received one for their Valentine's evening, and it fitted our schedule we decided to return (driving 179 miles each way!!). The staff, the ambience, and the food and wine... More

The food at this gastro pub is superb - I think it is one of North Yorkshire's very best. Imaginative and delicious

The pub itself is very nicely decked out, and it is comfortable and warm. The food is another matter. Not sure what the owners are trying to do but they are offering a posh gastro experience, so prices are quite high really, which is fine if the quality of the food matched that. It doesn't. Their (presumably) signature thrice-cooked chips... More

Went mid week, the restaurant was not busy, service was very friendly but not intrusive. I had the most amazing Black Pudding starter!!! I've been telling everyone about it!!!! Compliments to the Chef. Then had the Sirloin Steak again fab quality and very tasty. Would highly recommend anyone to dine here, Can't wait to return to the area!!
