All six pieces of nigiri (three types of tuna, eel, shrimp and sea urchin) tasted wonderful, none requiring any soy sauce ('No sauce', my chef advised for the first three pieces after which he realised I got the message). "While this place is off the beaten track for most visitors to Tokyo - Bunkyo-ku is a mainly residential district that is home to judo's Kudokan and university campuses - I would recommend the effort to make the trip. My hotel booked it for me because it was one of the few open on a Sunday. It's loca..."tion was hard for the taxi driver to find and even twenty feet away had to ask a nearby shopkeeper given its low key appearance. The place seats about 30 people at full capacity but it would be a stretch given the space. Nevertheless almost all of the tables were reserved and everybody who arrived had clearly planned ahead: this is not a pop-in place unless you live really close.
What can I say about the eel? Well, I arrived feeling exhausted after visiting four continents in five days and was not feeling well at all.
