"This place is the place to go for pasta. My cousin took us here and we experienced a fantastic pasta dish. We both ordered the Pasta con Astice and it was probably the best tasting pasta dish I've ever had. My girlfriend ordered eggplant parm and Sicilian Pesto Spaghetti and agreed that it was the b..."est she ever had also. Then we finished off our meals with some Grappa!

"This typical Sicilian restaurant was recommended to us by a fish dealer on the Capo market. What a find! It is a bit hidden away buy on the direct way between the cathedral (back side) and Capo. Ask for it, it is very recommendable. It was the best seafood we had in 2 weeks on the island. Besides a ..."la carte, there was a small and a big set-menu (the latter including primo and secondo). The “small” menu consisted of plenty of starters, primo piatto, wine and desert. The fish is fresh from the market and you can take a look on today’s catch in the open kitchen where the owners are cooking themselves. There are also meat dishes on the menu, but they specialize in pasta with fish and seafood with such delicacies as scampi (small kind of lobster), sea-water shrimps and sea urchin. The prices were very reasonable without the high coperto charges as in restaurants on the main roads. The service was most attentive and friendly and the waitress was very patient with our little Italian skills.

"Last year I dined twice at Carlo's little restaurant at the edge of Ballaro Market. No menu but great imaginative Sicilian cooking. I went yesterday for lunch and was disappointed that it was shut down. Thankfully the retailer next door advised he had moved and gave me directions. Upon reaching the ..."site I was found it was closed on Mondays but Carlo, the warm owner who does it all, happened to see us and invited us in. He prepared a meal especially for us -- no menu, no english -- but we felt comfortable putting ourselves in his hands. We had first course of fish balls in a beautifully seasoned tomato sauce, then octopus in a a wonderful brown sauce and finally a small pork cutlet topped with a thin slice of eggplant and cheese, plus a half bottle of house red. All for euro 46. If you're looking for a truly personal Sicilian dining experience, try da Carlos.
