"After visiting Fatima Sanctuary we went to Tia Alice and the outcome couldn't be better, although without a reservation we had a great lunch! The dining rooms are well appointed in simple contemporary decor with a mix of light that makes it nice. Decor is made of famous guests sketches. The service ..."is fast paced but attentive. The Menu is short for Portugal average size but with good variety, great portions and wonderful taste. The wine list is well laid and glassware of good quality. The gift and porcelain shop on the top floor are a great combination!

"Good meat, good potatoes (french-fried, handcut), very good local blood and rice sausage.
Very tasty desert (almond pudding, again a local speciality), very good tuna salad!
The owner and his family were very helpful and looked personally for every guest.
I don't like people that take pictures with ..."a flashlight in a restaurant, but a table with french (?) pilgrims could not resist, they helped them with a group photo, very nice.
Good wine card with wines all over portugal. We had some 7 Euro per bottle wine from a local winemaker that was quite fair, a recommendation of the owner, as was the second bottle: we searched for a full bodied red wine and were indicating the area of 15 -20 Euro wines but he said something like "of course you can drink that, but I recommend this" - pointing out a 9 Euro (!) bottle :)
This is a simple restaurant, but the simple things are often the best. 4,5

Anyway, this evening in the hotel restaurant was a pleasant one, but some flaws we found.
This is a high class hotel with 4 stars ( Do..."m Goncalo), so the expectations were high.
To make a long story short: we had a wonderful evening and tried to drink the cellar dry, but the winelist was too long :)
The food was good, good presentation, good arrangements, some were even extravagant, well worth the price. One of the main dishes was a bit lacking quality (meat) but with the good winelist and the good service a likely 4+.
But the waiters decided to do some preparations ( for the next breakfast, I guess) and install a big buffet table in the room while we were dining, a bit disturbing, as you can guess.
The service was flawless and very friendly apart from that, we even changed to the cool hotelbar with the rest of pur bott...
