The meal got off to a great start with a basket of good bread, still warm, that had been toasted; this was accomp..."anied by cloves of garlic and the greenest and freshest olive oil we have seen (the owner told us that they had just made it 10 days ago). One antipasto platter of truly local meats and warm vegetables was plenty for both of us. Two primis with funghi, one secondo, wonderful house wine, water, brought the bill to 36 euros. "I have been at L'Ocanda Milu several times and I shall keep returning because it has all you would expect from a typical Tuscan restaurant at a sea resort like Viareggio. The fact that it is always packed with locals is a very good sign, and in fact the no-frills-all-substance character of Viareggio..." cuisine is very well represented here.
Starters, first and second plates are all of very high quality and prepared with care. I would especially recommend the large starters (7 entries) and the pasta with seafood sauce. You ought to try the boneless "cacciucco" as a second, which is a specialty of the house and really something that you will never forget.
The staff is very friendly and if you are celiac they will put special care in advising which entries are suitable for you (a large share of the menu, anyway).

"The establishment is well furnished, with space between the tables, and the service is really pleasant: the waitresses, two young ladies who are the owners, are solicitous, good in helping to choose the right wine, ready to take you a little stool where to place your bag if necessary.
Even if some ..."dishes vary according to the seasons, the menu has not been changed much in the years: this I consider as not very positive, I would appreciate to be surprised sometimes, on the other hand the dishes, whether with fish ( di mare ) or with meat ( di terra ) are always tasty, well prepared and well presented and significant is the fact that, when you enter, you find the kitchen in full view and you can see the chef cooking. So my husband and I consider this restaurant to be always reliable especially when we want to take out friends and relatives, also because the bill is fair.
