I ordered a special on the day which was mango-citrus fish curry with cassava and it was near perfection - my recommendation is to add this beauty to the all-the-time menu. Unfortunately I didn't have room for one of the yummy looking desserts. The man serving us was polite, friendly and interested in what we thought of the food, as well as talking about the method of cooking, where the recipe is from etc. Considering the other great reviews and our experience tonight, I hope to visit again when in New Plymouth.   "The menu offered Beef Cheek on White Bean Mash, which I took to be a euphemism for Rump Steak on White Bean Mash. Apparently it actually is the cheek of the cow. I'm sure there's a joke line in there somewhere. I'm more of a rump and breast man, so was a bit dubious, but the lovely waitress assured ..."me it was a popular dish. Turns out she was right and so was the meal. Prepared correctly by careful braising, the meat just falls apart, is tender and flavoursome, and the layers of white bean and spinach mash make a delicious combination.
