Even the salads have the subtle layers of flavour that take time to show themselves. When the place is busy, it may take time to get your meals. I don't care; you cannot hurry fine food and the wait is always worth it. You need to treat Yokoyama as a 'date night' restaurant to appreciate it; my wife and I always dress up, find a bottle of premium wine to take (and corkage is cheap) and we make a night of it to treat ourselves. I have had a lot of Japanese meals over the years and I cannot think of a better Japanese restaurant in Melbourne. Maybe there is one but I have not been there.
