"You may find a greasy spoon place with slightly lower prices or food that you prefer but El Pinto is not just a restaurant, it's an experience. The atmosphere is off the charts. The red chili ribs are AMAZING! "
"The food and service are good and the atmosphere is really nice. This is a great place to go after a movie or a show when you want to eat something, but not a lot, and socialize. The idea is to order a few items and share them. Tapas are not the standard, oversized "American" portions, which is fine..." for me but probably not for someone with a larger appetite (though there are also non-tapas items available). The fish tacos are good; you get 2 for $9. The vegetable skewers are 2 for $7 (?). The bill was about $42 + tip for 2 people, with 2 drinks and 3 tapas. To me, that's somewhat pricey given the portion size but it's kind of an upscale-ish place. I was there after work on a Tuesday and it wasn't crowded at all. It seems to be more of a weekend and late-night place, so go on a weekday if you prefer to avoid crowds.

"My sisters and I arrived late in Albuquerque and stayed at the wonderful Sandia Peak Inn. The helpful lady on duty that evening suggested the Monte Carlo. We were hungry, tired and thirsty. The moment we walked into this restaurant we were greeted by friendly customers and staff. The decor is da..."rk and soothing with tuck 'n roll upholstery on the booths, tons of Elvis photos on the walls, Marilyn Monroe too. Our waitress, Mary, was absolutely wonderful...she has worked at the Monte Carol for 17 years and does her job extremely well. Two of us ordered hamburgers and the other ordered a steak sandwich. All were delicious! I am a great hamburger lover and this was one of the best I have ever had! And the french fries...fresh, homemade with the skins, hot and crispy...just the way I love them! And...we got to "meet" the World's Most Interesting Man to boot! Don't miss this gem if you are ever traveling along Route 66 through Albuquerque!
