Wilder Mann Hotel (a chain) in the small town of Annaberg-Buchholz, 90 minutes SW of Dresden, is a very comfortable hotel with standard amenities. There is a small lobby with an equally small bar (with two great beer selections). The rooms are modest but immaculate. The bathroom was equally clean and well appointed.
My room, 217, had a single bed which was comfortable. The TV was tiny and did not have any English stations, but since I spent a total of about 15 minutes awake in my room, didn’t really bother me.
Breakfast buffet was included which was a typical European breakfast of cereal, cold cuts, cheese, yogurt and coffee. No decaf was available.
We had dinner in the restaurant in the basement of the hotel which had local meals which were excellent. Everyone spoke at least a little bit of English, plenty to get what you wanted.
The town itself is picturesque and the views coming to and going from Annaberg-Buchholz were classic countryside.
My only complaints, which were not confined nor could be attributed to the hotel, were odors. Smoke and body odors were prevalent and it was a bit off-putting during dinner.
I was in this area for business so I honestly couldn’t tell you if this was a worthwhile tourist destination.
