“Magnificent Tokyo Skyline views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 February 2012

One of the best five star hotels we have stayed.. customer service in Japan is as expected really high and Ritz's service is excellent. The view from the room is just too incredible.. we practically slept under the Tokyo skyline at night. The location of the hotel is very strategic as it is next to the Tokyo Midtown shopping centre. Great and memorable stay!

“Incredible views. Wonderful rooms.”

Don't know what to add. I love this place. So I'll try and comment on some other things:

Concierge: Really helpful. I wish I remember her name, she was totally cool. And she didn't turn up her nose when I wanted an authentic and cheap ramen place, nor when I asked her about a coin laundromat. (I can't bring myself to pay twice what my underwear cost to get them washed. Hotels are so silly this way still).

Gym: It's kinda lame that they charge extra to use the locker room at the gym. I know it's a spa and all that, but really, at $500+ a night for rooms, you can't let your guests use the gym lockers without dinging them another 2,500 yen? Staying at the Hyatt Roppongi Hills the week before, I was impressed by how they went out of their way to sign me up to the Hyatt Gold Club just so I could enjoy their lockers and spa. The Ritz could learn from this.

Lobby lounge: Because its a destination itself it didn't seem very inviting to the regular guests. After a day of work or sights it came across as stuffy. I felt like I needed a top hat and monocle.

****

Hotels can't be perfect for everyone and I was being critical above to add something new to the conversation. Overall, if you've got the means, or want to splurge, this is an amazing hotel.

“Hotel beautiful but too pricey”

I found the hotel beautiful, but the restaurants and massage, bar, etc., much too pricey. The spa treatments were not the standard I expected and the facilities are small.
A better value would be the Grand Hyatt, but their spa is also lacking. I would use outside massage services. Try http;//swedishmassagetokyo.blogspot.com for the best massages by Americans who are licensed.
