“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 February 2012

The hotel is very accessible from their means of transportation. It's a cozy little hotel where the lobby is located on the second floor. The ground floor has a mini grocery store where you can buy cheap lunch/dinner, cold/hot food. One night we were tired from walking around the city and went back to the hotel feeling hungry, we got ourselves satisfied from the rice they have in the grocery (you can request for them to heat it up), and some chicken/pork barbeque they had. Yes, the rooms are quite small, but if this would only serve as a sleeping room for you with no kids, you should just be fine. Bathroom was great! Toiletries were replenished everyday, even slippers, body scrub towels, shaver. Shower had a very good water pressure! Each room was provided with a cable as well so you can use your laptop. The lobby up to the dining room has wifi access. Buffet breakfast was great that served different kinds of juice, coffee, tea. Hot/cold food, and surprisingly with rice. Us asians love that!

Overall experience was great. I would have really give it as a 4.5 stars, but there's no such option. The only thing I think can use some improvement, is maybe they can assign one person in the front desk that's fluent in English. Don't get me wrong, the receptionists were all great and helpful but sometimes it takes a while before we understand each other specially when we ask for directions where to go. They have printed out maps for tourist spots but sometimes they're not the best people to ask where to go. You're better off asking the information desk in the subway/train area.

Another tip...which I only realized on our 3rd night. If you decide not to have your room cleaned, they can give you a credit of 500 yen per day, but only with maximum of 2 days. You can use this credit in their dining room or maybe some toiletries they sell from the front desk.

Dear darktania,

Thank you very much for taking your time to complete a review on your rencent stay.

It is a pleasure to hear that you had enjoyed your stay with us. I will pass on these comments to my collegues for their futher inspiration.

As for the English speaking staff, we apologise for the inconvenience caused for the communication. At the moment, we are in process of gaining one fluent English speaker on every shift. As for the maps and guiding, we will need to look into each staff''s knowledge once again for improvement.

Once again, thank you very much for taking your time to write such wonderful comments.
We look forward to your return.

Sincerely,

“Fantastic location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 February 2012

We have just returned from a great 4 night stay at this hotel. If you want to experience the lively exciting part of Tokyo, the location of this hotel puts you in the heart of Shinjuku, the area that seemingly never sleeps! The hotel is right on the doorstep of Golden Gai and an 8 min walk to the infamous 'Omoide Yokocho' (Memory Lane) for a wonderful yakitori experience - if you don't mind sampling the stranger parts of an animals body!

If you are coming from the airport via the Airport Limousine bus, it's a 10-12 min walk to the hotel. If you have a few bags, definitely take a taxi there, it's just 710 yen and worth it! Make sure you have the hotel name and address printed off in Japanese or they might not understand.

After reading another Tripadvisor review, we requested a quiet room on the 'backside' of the hotel which was perfect. We booked a standard double room, it was pretty 'compact', and on reflection, as we were carrying skis etc., we should have booked the next room size up - there really wasn't enough room to swing a cat once all our bags were in, but as we were out and about most of the day, it was adequate for our needs. The bed was very comfortable and the in-room broadband internet access was great. There was a small fridge in the room which we quickly filled with beer from the extremely convenient 24hr Lawsons minimart on the ground floor of the hotel. The bathroom (shower and great bath) was very well stocked with all the amenities you would need for your stay. We weren't offered the 500 yen voucher for not having our room serviced, they won't offer it, so don't forget to ask!

We found breakfast to be good enough to kick start the day; cereal, toast, croissants, juice. The hot offerings were a little strange, but this is a hotel trying to cater for all nationalities, just not sure they've hit the right formula as yet.

We wouldn't really recommend this as a young family hotel, it is in the heart of the red light area and there was a blatant display of touts around - you can avoid them by turning left outside the hotel and sticking to the main road though!

Ms mejo09,

Thank you very much for completing a comment on your recent stay with us.

It is a great pleasure to hear that you enjoyed your overall stay.

Your recommendation 'Omoide Yokocho' is one of the oldest food lanes in the Shinjuku area and has a history of about 60 years! Yakitori is now popular there but it also used to be famous for tempura.
Also, if you enjoyed the 'Omoide Yokocho', i believe that you will enjoy the 'Golden Gai' which is just behind the hotel too. It is also one of the earliest food lanes.

As for the breakfast, we will look into the menu once again in seek for a more organised menu.

Thank you very much once more for your wonderful and valuable comments.
I will pass them on to my collegues for future inspiration and amendments.

We look forward for your return in the future.

Sincerely,

“Great location, good infrastructure and service”

We recently stayed in this hotel and it was a regular experience; nothing out of the ordinary.
However, we disliked the response we received when requesting a late check out. The front desk staff requested a steep price for checking out at 2 PM (I belive it was close to half of the price we paid per night!). We thought this was unacceptable as check in at this hotel is at 2 PM and check out at 11 AM.

Room Tip: You can walk underground all the way from Shinjuku JR station to the corner of the hotel. This is us...

Dear Alandhk

Thank you very much for taking your time to write an comment about your recent stay with us.

The late check out policy of our hotel until 2pm is 30% of the best available room rate which iss slightly higher than the internet room rates. I would very much appreciate if we could aquire your kind understanding about the policy. However, as it will feel expensive for guests, we will take your comment and put it into consideration whether we can offer a better price for the late outs.

As for the route through the "SUBNADE" underground shopping area, it is very useful on rainy days. From JR Shinjuku station the entrance will be 1-2 minutes walk and the exit will be b-15 of the SUBNADE exits. This route will take you to the street where our hotel is located.

Thank you very much once again for your valuable comments. We hope you will consider comming back to stay with us again.

Sincerely,

“Great location”

As mentioned, the rooms are TINY, but it's what you get in Tokyo, they are immaculately clean and well stocked with supplies. The rooms are modern and there was free high speed internet. The hotel also had laundry facilities for about 500Yen.

The breakfast buffet is a little bit boring and isn't changed much say to day, but wasn't an issue for us. They served toast, cereal, rice, fries, chicken, soup and stew each day, so little variety.

The location, which is a short walk from Shinjuku station is excellent, I didn't see any of the 'red light' district supposedly around the hotel, the whole area is packed at all hours.

The only minor downside was that the rooms were fairly noisy.

Ms squishy_9,

Thank you very much for taking your time to comment on your recent stay with us.

We are greatful of your wonderful comments. For use of the intenet, we have rental PC (chargeable at 1,000 yen / day) and a free computure area on the 3rd floor. Our laundry machines are on the 7th floor (300 yen) in addition to our laundry service.

As for the noise in the rooms, we are aiming them to be quiet. We are sorry that you didn't find them as so. We recommend you to request for a room facing the back side of our hotel which will be the quiet side.

Thank you once again for your comments
and we hope to see you again.

“Great hotel, good size room and bathroom, clean and great staff!”

Stayed at this hotel for 12 nights in a single room. A very good size room for Tokyo. Also a reasonable room rate! Was happy to find haning space and a shelf above it for clothes storage. Having stayed at a couple of hotels in tokyo before, this was a luxury li hadnt previously had. Room had a sweet little couch under the window, a quite nice bathroom, one that even had a bath. Once again, relative to other japanese hotels i found it to be 'spacious' you cant judge these hotels by their counterparts in other major cities in the world. Its just not the same here. Only had breakfast once but it was a nice yet not too extensive buffet. If you request not to have your room serviced you are issued a 500 yen voucher. Although cant refuse service 2 days in a row. So I did it every second day and managed to accumulate some money for nothing! Great!
I found the location very convenient to shinjuku area and station. It was central to so many shops and caves I wanted to visit in the area. Some people have commented on the area being a little unsavory. I didn't find it anything to worry about at all. It may be a little off putting if you have a family and are venturing out at night though. I which case the back path mentioned by other posters is ideal. It completely avoids the African pimps. Though they know who not to harass.

Dear SirNicholasP,

Thank you very much for taking your time to comment on your recent stay with us.

It is a pleasure to hear that you were satisfied throughout your stay.
As for the 500 yen voucher instead of the make-up service, this service is only for guests who have mentioned to the reception staff that they won't be needing the cleaning service before 9am on the day of the request or earlier. This can be arranged also via phone of the room.

The location of the hotel is one of our strengths as we are relatively close to stations of four types of the main subways and railways in Tokyo.

Thank you very much once again for such wonderful comments.
We look forward to your return to our hotel.
